Another mouthpiece for the Rockets or he is braindead. Saying this after getting blown out by the Sacramento Kings, missing Sabonis, Murray and Dennis, who were on a 7-game losing streak and are the worst team is the west is a laughable take. Media needs to start calling it like it is. This is a lost season as the issue are foundational - Horribly constructed roster for this era of basketball. No reliable creator, no PG, lack of consistent shooting, starting four forwards and a center. Players are playing out of position or in the wrong role. Your turn, my turn ISO ball with this roster does NOT work in the regular season let alone the playoffs. They cannot even do this right. Ime having Alp iso on the perimeter, KD Isoing from the halfcourt. Ime runs the same damn action to get KD the ball, and it results in KD initiating the offense 10 feet beyond the three-point line. The problems are endless. Even with a healthy FVV, Rockets still needed to add another ball-handler, creator and more shooting yet they sign an injured DFS, and the corpse of Capela. Okogie signing was solid, however. The FO has only themselves to blame. This is a bigger letdown than the 2015-16 season. Rebuild the roster for the modern NBA and fire Ime.
when we shoot our limited # of 3s and hit a decent % - we win... when we are shooting in the low 20s... we lose... and the more we take, the worse we lose... i have never been a fan of the 3ball... bc 0-27 happens... but i understand that its necessary in todays NBA... i feel that we were shooting a good amount... lowest in the league - but highest % made... imo that was gold - as illustrated by our offensive rating... but our 3pt shooting has turned to sh*t.... 22-24% in the last 5 games (after leading the league)... thats what happens when u r overly reliant on the 3ball imo... and we're not even shooting free throws at a reasonable clip...
The last two years have been frustrating, but in slightly different ways. Good coaches are able to harness the potential of their players and get the best out of them by accentuating their strengths and minimizing the impact of their weaknesses. We haven't done that very well and I'll leave it at that. There are 3 guys that can handle ISO opportunities--KD, Alpi and Amen. Bari and Tari aren't really skilled enough and instead should be getting opportunities within the flow of the offense. Wait, did I say flow of the offense, scratch that because there is now flow. We rarely have people cutting to the basket except Amen and occasionally Smith, but with guys like Alpi, KD and Reed we could get more easy baskets by just cutting to the basket or hey setting some picks for the cutter versus always the ball handler. Ball movement is sporadic at best and normally gets a boost when Shep is in the game, but the problem is guys still can't hit open shots. Both his assists last night came from passes to KD. Is it me or has Alpi become a bit of a prima donna? He used to be this hard working kid who would relentlessly go at you and find some magical way to score on you. Maybe I'm misreading him, but something is different about him this year and I haven't quite figured it out. Bari has had one good game in our last 5 and that was our only win. His shooting has dropped off a cliff, but he's averaging over 37 mins a game. He was probably pressing a little in the last two games with his old man in the audience, but he needs to focus on his strengths and quit trying to be KD-lite. I still think KD is amazing, but we're asking him to carry the load offensively and at some point that's going to take a toll as we're not even halfway through the season. He's handling the ball too much. We should give him more time in the block where he just has to turn and shoot versus creating his own shot every time. He also should be in the 33-35 min range to minimize wear-and-tear. He's consistent and is maintaining his game along career averages. God blessed Amen with incredible athleticism and some of the things he does on the court take my breath away, but damn his 19% 3p% can't continue. He and Alpi both need to limit those shots, especially in close games. He's improved as a PG, but I still believe he's an elite SF and we should be trying to unlock his full potential there. Reed, Reed, REED... I maybe just a Sheppard fanboy, but we're wasting his talent. Other players get smoked on defense and there are no consequences, Reed gets taken by good players and scored on twice and never sees the court again. I think it's time to shake things up and start Reed at PG. Sengun, KD, Amen, Okogie and Sheppard should be the starters. Bari needs to come off the bench and continue to work on his game. If Tari ever returns consistently, I like him coming off the bench as well for energy and effort. Ok, I've vented enough--have a great day CF!
That title was tired twenty years ago. If you can't stand the heat right now, check out for awhile...things will look much better later in the year. But, don't whine. God knows there's enough of that around here.

Team needs ball handling in the worst way. There are ways to get Morant while keeping KD, Sengun, Amen, and even FVV for next year. KD and Ja would both be on 3 year deals so timeline works. That would be my play if I were Stone. Granted it could cost you in 4-6 years but KD will be gone so moot point. That said, you should still have Sengun and Amen and a Ja extension to build around.
Why aren’t there calls to fire the GM/lawyer who put this awful roster together. Really….no PG after FVV goes down. Should have traded Bari. Should NOT have signed DFS for $53MM. Still peeved that he went out and picked Silas years ago and traded Jarrett Allen for peanuts and traded for Oladipo and cut half his first round wasted picks and never makes any trade deadline deals when we need them. This guy Stone really SUCKS and somehow always gets a free pass from this site!
In total agreement. Did not want to prolong my rant. The roster reeks of Ime's picking, but Stone also deserve a lot of blame.
Expectations were too high. Coming off of last season we were sort of where the Kings were when they had that first big breakout season with Sabonis and Fox. Now a couple seasons later and they backtracked in a big way, but still a rebuilding young team with alot of variability from night to night. The Rockets probably should have held off on making the trade for KD although I love what KD is doing here. They shouldn't have made that kind of trade until this team had a true homegrown superstar, and not a kind of budding star type of player/s with huge flaws. -Sengun is a nice young all start talent, but cannot defend the paint, or shoot. -Amen is a freakish athlete but cannot hit the broad side of the barn -Reed was a red shirt freshman that they had no idea if he could even play at the beginning of this season. -Tari had big health issues with that leg injury -Jabari is a good role player, but could he ever be more than a solid role playing 4/5 versatile big?? All HUGE question marks coming into the season, and with that many question marks it is just obvious now in hindsight that Stone and Fertitta probably should have known better.... BUT... what's done is done. KD is on this team. So what do we do... IMO... you probably set KD aside and tell him that they probably pulled the trigger a bit too early with this team BUT they want him to be there mostly for next season, and the year after when they feel they'll have more talent, more depth, and a better chance to make a run at it. If this team is struggling to even make the play-in, you should probably sit KD in the final stretch of the season, and let the last 20 or so games be all about player development. Also at the trade deadline Stone should trade Tate, and Jeff Green to try and get some long-shot younger talented guys who are sitting at the end of other team's benches. See if you can't take a look at some guys for next season especially young big men. I still like the players we got.... but I think we pulled the trigger a year or two too early. This is VERY MUCH still a young unreliable rebuilding team.
The truth is Ime has destroyed the franchise. We’ve extended him despite failing for 2 years, all because we chose not to tank. Ime isn’t an NBA coach. He’s a HS level basketball coach at best. Hustle and confidence can win you games against non professionals but a understanding and passion for the game, as well as recognition of both defense and offense, is what will win you games. Not only is Ime inept offensively, he’s very overrated defensively. Hes run your textbook 2-3 zone which gives up a bunch of open 3s and is beatable by even AAU teams. He plays favorites (Bari, Holiday) over offensively talented players (Sengun, Sheppard), He has no idea what he’s doing with his timeout selection. All in all, the worst coach in the league. The absolute worst.
Is anyone coming around on our players just not being good enough yet or am I still on an island here
