In order to do so, they have to trade away good talent or go over CBT1. For a backup C improvement, I don’t see them doing either.
What would be interested in from Boston? I thought it was pitching before but it seems like we're ok there.
Duran and one of their pitching prospects or no thanks. I dont even want to trade Paredes. So it has to be an insane offer. Or they can kick rocks
Bregman has always been a bit of a weird dude, so who knows? eta: Also, everyone thought he was a tailor-made hitter for Fenway and the Green Monster....except (basically equal # of 2025 games and PAs): Home: .246 .347 .414 .761 Road: .296 .371 .504 .875
If Luis Arraez or Willi Castro are getting desperate to find a landing spot I wouldn’t mind Houston signing either one of them to a big league deal. If Michael Conforto, Mike Tauchman, Jesse Winker, or Alex Verdugo are ready to take a minor league deal then Houston might be a fit for them.
Boston is a weird town, not for everyone. I personally like it but I know some people that really dislike it. Ultimately Boston offered $10,000,000 less money, over half the money in deferrals decades down the road and Boston refused a full no trade clause. Did Bregman just prefer Chicago? Maybe, I have no idea - but the Red Sox offer in reality wasn’t that close to the Sox. I am sure there is part of him that wishes he wasn’t going to his third team in three years and had worked something out with the Astros - but in the end Bregman got 7/215 and a full no trade clause leaving the Astros.
