I dont know what they will do but I know what they should do. And youre right I dont think they will do it either cuz it would be admitting they were wrong. You cant rush a rebuild. That is why i was so mad when they traded cam. Because Stone said "we are not developing anymore". Really? Youre not? It was and is sooo stupid. You got the 2nd seed through teamwork and you blew up the team added a 37 year and thought "yay we're contenders". It doesnt work like that.
Yep. I was good with trading Green. But at least get another guard back not a SF, a position we are stacked in. The move now handicapped us at the shooting guard spot. We traded 2 guys that can drive and shoot and defend for one guy. Didn’t make sense then. Doesn’t make sense now
you mean the same way rocket fans hang on the nuts of other players and thinking the grass is greener over on the other side?
Yeah I agree they had a great team and foundation to build from but they wanted this year to be win time year. Serious Contending year. They have 5 year guys, vets and 4 and 3 year guys. OKC had a similar timeline which they acquired some vets and won with several 4 and 3 year guys. Cam was mistake prone and didn’t fit with what they’re doing not to mention he isn’t very good. Take a look at what he’s doing in Washington. Same shi+ with zero improvements. That’s why Reed Sheppard makes no sense at all according to their mentality and designated phase. But here we are with an old star and no guards. Just an error in judgement. Blame udoka, stone, witus, fertita. Everyone who signed off on the deal.
They didn't know FVV would get injured when they made the trade though. If we actually had a healthy rotation of fvv/reed/amen/tari/bari/alpi/dfs/adams/kd we'd be awesome. Even as it is we're way better than last season and are the 3rd best team in the league.
Its not Cam verses Reed the fact that you are even framing it that way and saying look what he's doing in Washington shows youre not understanding what Im saying at all.
FVV getting injured was totally something that was foreseable. This is why my direction wasnt to trade jalen for Durant but if youre gonna trade jalen you need a young point guard that can attack not an old KD that doesnt. You certainly dont want to give up your culture guy and defensive leader for a 37 year old. It was stupid. I said so at the time Im still saying it now. And at the time I said you guys wont understand and you still dont get it. Its not FVV. At most with FVV we would have been better at getting Sengun the ball. We would be a bit better in the standings but still not contenders. WE WERE NEVER GOING TO BE CONTENDERS. You sacrificed your rebuild in this stupid trade for nothing.
If you knew in advance FVV was gonna get injured then fair enough, that's beyond my abilities. What exactly did we sacrifice? None of our main guys were traded, and older mediocre role player and our worst "young" player, that's it. I agree we were not gonna be contenders but we were absolutely 100% not gonna be without the trade either, and since it cost nothing i'm still good with it.
I knew it was a possibility. To be fair others had brought up the fact that we'd be cooked if fred got injured because we failed to get a backup point guard. Not just me so maybe you need to pay attention more? Look at last year and how we played without him. That should signal to any responsible person in the basketball business "the rockets need a young point guard". I also totally agreed with not starting Tari or giving him a ridiculous ocntract because he's never on the floor. The Rockets gave up more than you realize. You guys dont look at the entire picture. This KD trade has set us back and ruined the path we were on. When youre rebuilding you dont want to make it all about a 37 year old. He's being treated like our franchise player and when he breaks a hip in a year or so we will have to start all over and figure out how to play without him. A problem we didnt have last year. I think some of you never actually played team sports and it shows in your posts.
After last season, in my mind the 3 players who truly mattered long term were amen, alpi, and reed. If the rockets ever end up doing anything meaningful, it will be because of those 3. I was also on board with not giving tari a big deal b/c he's always injured, no disagreement there. Agreeing that we traded basically nothing and then saying it set us back is just weird and illogical. We also have literally the best young PG prospect in the nba, his timeline just doesn't align with KD. I was personally against making a trade for an older star (i was against fox, kd, giannis, etc.) but even I was happy to get one for free.
I am definitely OK with the concept of he cannot be a starter if he cannot shoot around 38% from three or alternatively develop a bit more as a shot creator. I would trade him this season if it was the right deal, but I still rate him pretty highly as far as potential and runway to improve.
Genuine question, based off what? His biggest hamper, offensively, is his dribbling ability. Something that should and could have been addressed years ago. At this point I'm more convinced it's because he just has stone hands as to why it's only improved incredibly marginally. He has height but doesn't have any vision to make a decent pass. He's a below average shooter. I was against the pick when it happened (felt Ivey was a better swing for the fence prospect) but even I didn't think he'd be this poor thus far.
If KD is here, Jabari is untouchable. The price would be huge. Bari is Kd-lite.. When he gets his shot down and handles stronger, he's going to be incredible.
With that being said, my guy Josh has said he's unhappy with his minutes. He is out in during odd possessions and is immediately benched after shooting a corner 3 after rotting for so long. Where's trevor ariza or Gerald green when you need them?
even ronald mcdonald bequeating him the storied golden arches couldn’t make his flat as fuhk shot get more elevation he makes rodney mccray look like purvis short
