[NY Post] Trump wants to buy Greenland, again, after claiming US could take back ownership of Panama

Trump did a huge interview with the NYTimes. When asked about the reasons for acquiring Greenland, this was his answer:

“Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success."

(The whole interview is nuts.)

 

trump is well and truly crazy. He's babbling nonsense about Greenland. Utter nonsense, as well as nonsense about NATO.

 

I sincerely wonder who the hell briefs Trump ?

Whoever - or whatever - it is, they should consider the fact that Greenland is already protected under NATO’s collective defense, and that the United States already maintains a permanent military base there, making a takeover unnecessary for security purposes.

 

The Daily Mail quoted unnamed diplomatic sources as saying senior US military officials believe Trump’s Greenland proposal is neither lawful nor politically viable. One diplomat told the newspaper, “The generals think Trump's Greenland plan is crazy and illegal. So they are trying to deflect him with other major military operations. They say it's like dealing with a five-year-old.”

Yeah, we figured as much...

 

Don’t worry it’s not like he replaced all of the chief of staff of the military. Oh wait…

Here's what I don't understand about Greenland.

Why can't the US just invest heavily in a military presence in the vast open space of Greenland? Wouldn't that be more mutually beneficial for everyone?


Somehow, I think it's because Trump is after oil, minerals, and other resources, but I don't know enough to have an educated opinion.

I think this is about attacking a NATO country thus forcing NATO to kick the US out. Trump knows he’d need Congress to pull out of NATO and no way that happens. This is a way to force it to happen. I hate that by the way.

 

No one is happier with that outcome than Russia and China.
