Nobody was more against signing him than i was. I still completely and 100% hate the signing, hated him the 2 years we had to put up with him, was TRHILLED when he was traded, and am still just as thrilled. Good riddance to him.
Its not retrospect for me...I preferred at the time to keep Dillon with the tenth pick and trade jabari and tari. I just dont trust Jabari to be more than a role player and I dont trust Tari to stay healthy.
Majority of people here were wrong about not wanting to run it back in general. I’m not saying the sky is falling (I believe we will be very solid at year end) but the org opted for the shiny toy - bad choice road.
KD isn't the problem. Its Sengun. Lets be honest, he's not the right fit. We should've traded him for Giannis like yesterday
Didn't lear a thing from Memphis and how that franchise went to hell without Dillon.. Rockets traded away their identity and rebuild, should have never traded Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green...
Dillon ment so much more then we gave credit for. It was a dumb move. Wish we have kept Dillon and replaced Green with anyone or a pick
I don’t know if we miss him offensively since we still have the same issues we had all last year and that playoff series. But we miss the leadership, toughness, and defense. He led in his intensity. Fighting back. Getting in the faces of the opposing team or increasing his own intensity and energy. All of this is infectious. He was the heart and soul of the defense. We don’t have that luxury anymore. Durant isn’t a vocal leader and neither is Amen or Sengun. This was the reason they brought him here and it doesn’t make sense they got rid of a guy that was so important to their identity.
if I could go back in time, I would probably include Smith and Eason and try to keep Brooks, #10 and get some sort of asset back. But we can’t go back in time and at the end of the day Smith is likely going to be worth his contract. Tough few games for the team, but I think it’s just a little bit of regression because we had been shooting so well. our core issues are glaring obvious and I expect them to be addressed. We are so limited financially that we are just waiting.
What should we do? In my opinion Stone and his team needs to seriously re evaluate after this season. If this means moving Sengun or Amen or both then so be it. This team in this current iteration aint it
my personal opinion, is that there is a lot of hindsight going on. And a lot of of it has been caused by our first really rough stretch of the year. And I think there’s some regression in regards to the three-point shooting. And we are missing our best player. now outside of all of those things there are a couple glaring needs that need to be addressed. a veteran point guard for sure and some cleaning up of our offensive strategy. I also am more open than ever to considering Jabari trades because the cap amount allows us to do a lot, but I also think there is a scenario where he ends up being worth his contract and maybe even more. personally I am not doing much other than waiting a few more weeks until we can make a move and then to see what’s out there. I can certainly see us making a couple adjustments and being one of the few teams that has a legitimate chance to win the championship. it’s been rough lately, but in general, the board is too reactive. I will be stunned if we don’t do anything at the trade deadline, and that would bother me. But that also might indicate that they have a pretty high-level confidence that Vanvleet will be back. I don’t want to lose faith in this group 30 games in, considering we haven’t even tried to tweak it. I don’t know why anybody would’ve thought that the completion of all of these deals was going to end up being the perfect pot of gumbo.
I was always for the signing and really sang praises for him for his appreciation post when the trade happened. However I did think the Rockets had many avenues to replace him in the offseason. The fact that their offseason moves have mostly been duds is what's causing the current issue. More so than Brooks leaving.
Some of you guys ack like we are a worse team after the trade. We are a better team, believe it or not. We are 22-13. Last season we were 23-12 at this point. But we have had a lot more road games so far. Our ORtg improved a lot from 114.9 to 120.0. DRtg got worse a bit from 110.3 to 112.2. NetRtg improved from 4.6 to 7.8. That's a jump from 7th to 2nd. We lost our starting PG. Tari missed 40% of the games compared to 30% of last season's game. We still maintain almost the same W-L records despite more road games.
