Man, I can't believe I forgot Frank Zappa & Robbie Robertson. I'd also like to throw in: Mick Taylor Luther Dickenson
nice! all my favorite stones stuff was with mick taylor. who is luther dickenson? any relation to the famous producer bruce? MORE COWBELL!
How can so many people not list SRV as one of their choices?!? Jimi Hendrix Eric Clapton Stevie Ray Vaughan Duane Allman Billy Gibbons
Jorma Kaukonen Leo Kottke Syd Barrett Duane Allman Roy Clark Jonny Lang Billy Gibbons Ry Cooder Joe Walsh Dave Mason
Nah. You might recognize him from the North Mississippi Allstars. He also played with The Word, has made a guest appearance with the likes of Medeski, Martin & Wood, and Robert Randolph & the Family Band. I thought about putting Robert Randolph into the mix, but I'm not sure that he qualifies as a guitarist.
I did actually overlook this. I retract my first post and nominate Reverend Horton Heat as my favorite guitarist. He puts more into his live shows then his cd's.
SRV is way too overrated. Guitars scare me...why do they have to make so much noise? Not mentioned: Mississippi John Hurt Ler LaLonde Django Rémi Boucher
Yeah that guy is pretty badass and im suprised he isnt as well know as guys like Kenny Wayne Sheppard or Johnny Lang. I dont know his solo stuff well but he was great in Roger Waters - In the Flesh DVD. Any of his other work you can reccomend?
For those that have only heard the name of Jeff Beck, but are not familiar with his stuff, check out the song, "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" off the "Blow by Blow" album. Greatest instrumental song I have ever heard.
