LOL, Rudy has 2 championships, how many does Van Grumpy have? I just don't like JVG, never have, never will. I think his brand of basketball is not tailored to winning consistently. DD
JVG was the coach that coached the Rockets team to a playoff game first time in 5 years. You can argue it was him or Yao/Francis, but he WAS the coach when that happens. After that accomplishment, we need to give him more time than just 9 games into the new season. This is a completely new team we have assembled. If we keep losing when it's January, then it's another story.
Me too!!! I do have to say, I blame this one on our PGs ward didnt make a shot and had 5 TOs Lue couldnt get the ball to ANYONE let alone Yao... I thought it was a great game up till the 6 min mark in the 4th.. GIVE US TIME... WE WILL BE A GREAT TEAM AND YES WITH JVG!!
He made the playoffs with Francis/Yao? Big whoopdy doo!! Mr. Mean could have done that. We played bad basketball last season and barely made the playoffs. We improved by 4-5 games, and I think we actually regressed as a team.
I think we are all just starving for a fast break here and there, its starting to get on my nerves how we blast past halfcourt and still brick a jumper with 4 seconds left on the clock. I will try to be patient... JVG makes our team boring i can tell you that, but as long as he brings in the W's then thats all we want right? well we only have 4 of them so far and 5 L....
I agree! I think it was about time for us to make it anyways. I dont think it was all Van Gundy. Van Gundy got us there and then it dawned on him that our offense sucked and turned it all over to Steve. Bring in a coach with a more positive attitude and who knows how to win championships.
The team improved a total of 2 games over the previous season that included a rookie Yao that looked like a bust until about 10-15 games into the season, Rudy getting cancer, no jim jackson, and Rice and Moochie were major parts of our rotation.
I've wanted JVG gone since early last year, and am glad more and more people are realizing how crappy of a coach he is. Currently the Rockets are the 5th WORST team in the league, and after tonight we definately drop to maybe 4th or 3rd. I don't care if Yao/Tmac met last night, a team with those 2 should never struggle to score 80+ a night. A JVG team will always struggle because he doesnt allow anyone to dominate the ball- If Yao cant post up one on one, we pass the ball around the perimeter continually and then throw up a last second shot- it happens all the time! Mcgrady is continually put in a bad position to throw up a last second shot, just as Francis was last year. And don't anyone try and say oh its a new team, we need to adjust, etc. etc. Look at Miami and Orlando- Miami averages 100pg, Orlando 97 JVG teams have a history of struggling to score and the Rockets will struggle as long as he's at the helm. Mcgrady had numerous games of 50+ last season- does anyone honestly think he can put up those kind of games under JVG?

I've always disliked JVG's coaching style, honestly don't believe he is capable of coaching a good offensive game. That been said, you have to stick with the guy, give him a fair chance. You cannot expect the team play well with this many new players. Let them play together for while, say by the end of the season? Then we can come back, evaluate the team, players, and the coaches.
I'll give you an AMEN BRUTHA for that. This offense is unwatchable. It might stand pat in the East, but in the West...Hell no, gotta go.
