@Salvy @CrixusTheUndefeatedGaul @HP3 should have had some Hamas supporters there That would have increased the number of woke protestors
If anyone would know crappy late night talk show humor, it would be Jay Leno. He was amazingly awful.
The crap Leno put Monica Lewinsky through for a decade is ridiculous in retrospect. I'll say this for Colbert, he built his career on liberal political satire, to expect that to stop once he went to Late Nite is silly. It's part of why he got the gig. The politics was part of the draw. Now, I don't think any of us saw Trump or Covid coming, but given the fact that those two things basically took liberal satire out back and shot it in the head... well, you kinda see how this all unraveled. Thank God South Park has stepped in to fill the void.
earnest expressions of affinity for communist dictatorships from a late night alleged comedian begets low TV ratings, begets cancellation
I am confused. So, because of objective history, Colbert was cancelled? Please let me know what was said that isn't accurate?
Affinity for Communist dictatorships? Who did that? I didn't hear Colbert saying anything about the Soviet Union being great. All of the things stated were objectively true - and pointing them out, doesn't mean that Colbert or the author want to live under Soviet rule -- and indeed, Colbert pointed out that at least some of the progressiveness towards women ended in the Soviet Union. Is pointing out that the National Socialists cut unemployment by 50%, and that they helped spear head the ability for common people to have a radio and car an expression of "affinity for Nazism" or is it contextual, and factually true?
I see, ok. I mean, I wouldn't conclude that recognizing that the Soviet Union was a champion of equality between the sexes is an expression of affinity for that government. And I seriously doubt his viewership was declining because people perceived some kind of pro-communist agenda from him (late night in general is a dying species in a fragmented media space). And I don't believe the viewership numbers were the primary motivation for his cancellation (probably a secondary reason though). But, thanks for the explanation.
Another case of a MAGA propagandist posting a video... saying that it says something.... which it does not say... and just hoping that everyone is dumb enough to just believe him that it says what it says. The only thing Colbert is doing here is interviewing a writer who wrote about the history of women and the women's movement in the Soviet Union before the Soviet Union went to sh$t which they are clearly insinuating here. I don't know why you guys are so afraid of history, books, and knowledge. I think Christians should also read the history of or the Quran itself to understand that religion, how it came about, and what can be learned from the history of that book. It doesn't mean that if a Christian learns about the history of the Quran that they are somehow now a lesser Christian, and a Islam sympathizer. I for one think learning about the Soviet Union's history would be beneficial for Americans given.... we are pretty much headed for the same trajectory and downfall if we want to continue this path of corruption, authoritarianism, war, and a culture of lies.
