It's the responsibility of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to enforce the immigration laws passed by our legislature and signed into law by our president. People in this country illegally should be detained and deported. Law enforcement should not be harassed in the performance of their congressionally mandated duty. We don't know this though. There are as many reports that she was told by one ICE officer to drive away, and then another one grabbed her door and told her to stop. I don't know if she did or did not hit him, it is possible that she did, but couldn't tell from the angle - and then she was shot after driving away. Also, she is as likely to have driven away from fear as anything else. Also - there is a lot of misinformation out there. There is no credible evidence that she was leading any protest, indeed she had supposedly just dropped off her daughter minutes earlier according to her ex-husband. It also doesn't help that apparently the fact she may have been a lesbian matters to people..... Do you notice how much division, violence and hatred there is in the USA right now? It doesn't help anyone, but a small group of people that feel they can gain power or make money off of it.
A hypothetical? Well, hypothetically, we have something like 1 million law enforcement officers in this country who have hundreds of thousands if not millions of interactions with citizens every day. I would expect some small percentage of those interactions to result in some incorrect application of the law or response. Many of the interactions are in highly charged or stressful circumstances. It's not a perfect world. It's thought 5% of people sitting in prison are innocent. Nothings perfect. That's how it goes.
We know a uniformed police officer attempted to open the door of her vehicle, a sure indication of want to stop or detain and she peeled out attempting to flee from him. In action which, is, you know, illegal and dangerous.

I see. So when ICE shut down Roosevelt Road by my home, and went car by car and back downed traffic for 30 minutes that is okay - that is their "congressionally mandated duty."? When they would pull over cars with only Hispanic drivers and in some cases pull them out of their vehicles - and put some in mobile wagons on Roosevelt Road - that was their duty? They were not sent to Chicago by President Trump to intimidate people. So when I saw a woman honk at them in her car and scream at them after she was allowed to drive off - and they fired a round at her car, causing her to go off the road -- that is their duty? When they were going through the Daley Center in Chicago and demanding papers from people literally just walking in the building --- that was their duty? I suspect that you did not live through their presence in Chicago and the suburbs -- and for my own selfish reasons, I moved to a very wealthy area to avoid the kind of drama and bullshit that I had to deal with when ICE came to town. So no, I don't want ICE backing up traffic to harass people, I don't want ICE coming and detaining workers in my neighborhood putting on roofs... I don't want ICE leaving their piss bottles a block from my home because they cannot act like civil human beings and no one wants them in their store or business. ICE was sent to Chicago because Donald Trump has a small pen1s, and he wanted to intimidate people.... but all he did was have all of the wealthy white people that would have stayed out of it, turn on him when they saw how they acted like animals... they ran red lights, they caused crashes, they shot at and injured people.... and if the local PD is to be believed, they ended up only able to scrounge up a dozen illegal immigrants, and a couple of those were nannies from Germany, and an engineer that had an expired visa. So yeah --- ICE acted like the SA in my area of town, and they were roundly hated, and they are not missed.
