Players get traded. If DFS, Capela or Holiday get traded that opens up minutes. Okogie would probably have his minutes cut as well.

DFS and Okogie are there for defense bro. Thats like saying Aaron Holiday is gonna replace Okogie and DFS.

Capela is the backup center to Adams so you gonna play this playmaker at the 5? lol

If we make a trade to make the roster better, who do you think we trade?

Trading the 3rd string Center is not a crazy idea.

Thats why it depends on who we can get and who is available. These we need a playmaker posts arent just realistic.

You need somebody thats good enough to bench either Amen or Tari. Otherwise its a waste of time wont move the needle

This isn't just an idea btw. But, it likely wouldn't include Clint

True but the original argument was needing a playmaker over a shooter regardless of minutes. Rockets are near the bottom in Turnovers and Assists per game. A bench PG/SG might not move the needle as much as people would like but its our weakest spot.

CODBOMB! I'd love to add Kennard. Also makes sense that Atlanta may look to move him since they have Kispert for the next 3 seasons.

Besides straight-up trade, could we be a third team that helps facilitate an AD trade, with us landing Kennard?

I'm not really sold on getting another playmaker due to the logistics of actually getting one.

That said, why is JSJ guaranteed a starting spot over Amen? To improve the playmaking*, Reed for either Tari or JSJ would seem the better choice than Amen. Any external acquired playmaker would backfill Reed's spot on the bench and take PT from Okogie/Holiday/DFS (unless he gets healthy). I don't think Stone wants to give up the long-term assets to get a playmaker, but I think it would help in the short term. Rockets need to learn to work together, but I don't think they need a pure heliocentric playmaker.

*I think any additional playmaker needs shooting as well.

Codman speaks! Maybe DFS and a lotto protected 1st for Kennard.

I'm still hoping for a trade for Scotty Pippen Jr. He was very impressive in last year's playoffs.

Okogie and a lotto protected 1st for Pippen Jr.

I mean, he’s only playing 20 mpg right now, but shooting .45 from 3.

Cam Spencer was a low draft pick, FA, correct? But didn't we draft Reed because he was the best player in the draft, per Rafael Stone?

You can trade dfs and he’s 15 minutes of nice defense but with 0 points, and bring some playmaker that can handle the ball and create shots both by himself and to others.

Would love Kennard but using a pick to get him would be a tragedy considering they just traded Trae for a salary dump + filler.

We had Kd, Reed, Jabari. We need connectors and players who can move with the ball to create an advantage and get the ball to the pure shooters. Our problem is offensive system and lack of players/coaching who can move on and off the ball.

    I agree with this.

I think a shooter goes cold because they are getting no easy shots to build their confidence and rhythm. Instead they spend the whole game chucking 3s and banging their head against the wall, remaining cold.

If bari or reed or tari had a few easy dunks or plays where they got to the FT line they would probably not feel so tight when shooting. It's a mental thing, you missed the last 4 shots in the back of your mind naturally you're thinking "Better not miss this one..." that's why players look so relieved when they see one finally go in.

    Ime won't play them.

He didn't play Pritchard in Boston and the next year Mazula played him and won a chip.

Ime leans into defense.....and nothing else as he doesn't have a deep quiver in his coaching bag.

I'm a little surprised Reed's shot difficulty on threes was more than Durant's. Reed shoots a lot of long range shots and pullups, but Durant does a lot of the elevate and shoot over defender threes that are just incredibly difficult for anyone but him.

Bub can't shoot anything but 3's. His FG% is lower than his 3PT%. And you know when he comes here, his 3PT% will go down to the 20s. :D
