Guys like Cam Spencer that can probably be had for cheap at the deadline. Can’t rely on Tari/Bari/Reed

We are top 5 in FG% and 3FG%. We need a playmaking PG.

Yes to this. No to needing Kennard or some other "pure" shooters. Reed is going through a spell, probably because Ime pulls him too early, but he's got the shot we need. It's not broken. It will be featured in an All-Star game someday. If Ime doesn't ruin his confidence this year.

Tari has probably been punching way above his weight until recently and we will get a better picture of where to expect him going forward. Bari will have his ups and downs. But he's a good shooter and will get better.

My problem with this is where would that playmaker play? Are you benching Amen or Tari? Amen is the next chosen one and Tari has been amazing as a SG, wrecking people on defense and shooting 47% from 3 on 7 attempts along with 59% TS.

I would see them more coming off of the bench. We do not have the trade salary to get a playmaker good enough to demand to be a starter.

The Rockets are 4th in 3% because the Rockets are selective on when they shoot threes. A team takes away the inside play by sagging off the non-shooters or playing zone, forcing the Rockets to shoot more non-wide open threes, and the percentage drops a lot.

Reed disappointed yesterday. While Tari and JSJ were bad, I think they each probably took 2 threes they normally would not take. Durant...he takes a high difficulty of threes, but he elevates giving him decent looks on tight coverage. Durant has upped his 3PAs lately as it has been harder to get closer looks.

I'd put yesterday's loss on Reed as his shooting is important to winning when the paint gets clogged. Though, the clogged paint is a problem as well.

A bench player only plays 15-20 mins or so I doubt that will move the needle.

I do agree that the number one priority at the deadline is a playmaking guard if we can get one. But I will note that while are 4th in 3pt%, we are also 2nd to last in attempts. We are 22nd in 2pt%. So the team is not actually shooting well inside the arc. It's just that because the Rockets take so few 3s, their FG% looks better than teams that shoot from the outside. The eFG% ranking is 10th. Which is fine, but plenty of room to improve if this team wants to compete for a title.

I do believe a guard who can collapse a defense will certainly help improve all the issues I mentioned above. Although off the top of my head I'm not sure who that is that we can feasibly trade for.

Coming off the bench doesn't necessarily mean he will not get more playing time. Reed averages 26 off of the bench. They can definitely replace some DFS/Okogie/Holiday minutes.

Yes Reed already averages 26 off the bench so how will this playmaker average the same mins? You wanna cut Reeds minutes?

Holiday is averaging 13 mins like I said I dont think 13 mins of a playmaker is gonna move the needle. Okogie and DFS have a different role which is being the defensive stoppers, they come in and guard players so they shouldnt be replace by that playmaker. Rather. Okogie and DFs will cannibalize each other's minutes so as DFS gets better and better, Okogie's mins will be reduced.
