When I was in Austin... half the Austin Spurs would root for the Rockets at BJ Brewhouse in Cedar Park during Rockets playoff games. Players when not playing, still have their rooting interests.
I'm against trading Paredes. He's still young, on a team friendly contract and was easily our best hitter before he got hurt. Led the team in HRs and was the only one who consistently drew walks and made opposing pitchers work while everyone else in the line-up flailed away at pitches in the dirt. The entire offense plummeted as soon as he went down. He was also way better defensively than anyone gave him credit for.

Speaking of podcasts, besides Rome what are some good podcasts to listen to for Astros? "Locked On" makes me have to check my blood sugar levels. "Stone Cold Astros" makes me think I might need to call a suicide line for being a Astros fan. Anything in between these two?
I like Stone Cold but avoid Locked On like the plague. Obviously I am going to recommend the one I occasionally appear as a guest ( and write for the accompanying blog) Breathing Orange Fire I also listen to " Bleav in Astros" " Dome Foamers" "The Astros Baseball Podcast" "Astros Future" "Endless Blummer" Some of them haven't posted anything in a while and they range quite a bit in quality.
Dana now says Yordan gets more LF work. That places Altuve at 2B more often and opens the door for Paredes to DH more often.
This is my hope also. I have noticed Dana and Joe's comments about Yordan and Jose's playing time at various positions frequently differ.
Yes, I have noticed that also. I believe that Joe would prefer to protect his fragile guys, while Dana prefers creative roster flexibility.
Bro Dana’s comments on anything vary constantly If you are listening to his words and forming opinions based on that, you are doing it wrong
Around the time that the Astros hired Dana Brown, he made a comment that when he was with the Blue Jays or Braves, that he got in trouble for being to honest and blunt when speaking to the media. He said something about having to learn to not be straight forward.
Cubs getting Cabrera from the Marlins for Caissie (#1 orgs, #47 MLB Top 100) and Hernandez (Cubs #11) and De Leon (not ranked). A rough Astros equivalent would have been Cam Smith and Ethan Frey and Sandro Pereira. Big cost.
Super high cost. Considering acquisition costs, I am that much more happy with Burrows. Getting Burrows and [probably] one year of Imai are nice moves. Our starting rotation should be much stronger overall next season (even after losing Framber).
As each day passes I like the roster more and more. There’s risk in the outfield and rotation but there’s equivalent upside. The bullpen and infield have extremely good depth. The AAA roster will be good enough to insulate injury risk.
I would still ideally like a corner outfield bat, and I know they are trying to make that happen - but I don't know if anyone is realistically out there. We need the new pitchers to be solid, and Sanchez to hit like he traditionally has.... lots of upside on this team, people forget a year ago Correa had an OPS over .900 and I expect the offense to internally improve if healthy. I think the pen is under-rated and we have a lot of pitching in the minors with upside. Based on what I have been recently told - as currently constructed the Astros will have room to get someone at the deadline to help them if they are looking like a World Series level team. If the team is not, they will move some guys to get under the tax.
I can understand your assessment, but this team is not equipped to pick up a decent player at the deadline. They lack the draft capital and won't go more into the tax to pick up someone else's payroll dump. We'll end up with another Sanchez or Urias at best and hope they get hot. The Astros are bargain hunting at Wal-Mart and only looking at the damaged goods section
