Nimrod in Marvel Comics is a super powerful future Sentinel that could shapeshift sort of like the T-1000 and had all sorts of other powers. Cool villain.
I was glad they found a way to get Gandalf into the movie. Months ago, when I saw (Sir) Ian McKellan in the credits, I thought, "Are they going to CGI his face onto someone else's body, with a dikey chick ringing a bell and shouting 'Shame.....Shame.......Shame!'?"
The most recently I read Nimrod's character, they wrote him like.... I don't know how to describe it even... Flamboyant, goofy, right wing personality? Really strange to read (he's a robot), but not bad.
I dunno...I only really remember his first appearance from back in the day. I guess more recently they tried to give him more character.
I actually remember reading about this a long time ago and wondering how the term "nimrod" became a derogatory term. It was Daffy Duck sarcastically calling Elmer Fudd his little Nimrod that kicked it off, if I recall. It was probably in reference to the Biblical Nimrod being a hunter.
