Ukraine is a country of 40 million people with one of the largest militaries in Europe and a country who had been at war with Russia since 2014 when Putin launched his war in 2022.

Greenland is a country of 50,000 people with almost no soldiers.

I don't think anyone would die if the U.S. decided to seize it.

Canadians could easily take Niagara Falls, NY in a surprise attack. Occupy a few government buildings, swap out the flags. What could Niagara Falls do? Nothing, as they are not even 50,000 people. We'd all be OK with that, right? It's not like Niagara Falls is part of a country with alliances and such is it?

Any fantasy you have that Greenlanders or Danish troops would fire on American soldiers is pure delusion. It would literally be suicidal and no Danish commander would even want their soldiers to do that.

I am an American and believe in acting in our national interest. We have acquired territory in the past without consulting the will of the people of those lands and I don’t mind doing it for Greenland either when I consider the totality of the factors.

You referenced the acquisitions of territories from the Spanish American war. They took over the Philippines too. Killed 20k soldiers close to another million civilians died during their fight for independence. So how many are you willing to put up with to further the interests of Trump? Because it is the interests of Trump and not the interests of the majority of the American people. So how many people are you willing kill to further the interests of Trump?

Also I feel the need to further educate you. Guam’s population at that time was under 8000 natives. Who at that time were treated terribly by the Spanish. The population was not very developed at that time and Spain was brutal in their treatment of the natives. Nothing close to the population in Greenland

 

I think you are wrong and right at the same time. The US is not going to take any military action on land at least because there really is nothing to take. Again… we already have a military base there. We have “taken” Greenland far beyond how we ever took Iraq.

So I predict what will happen will be similar to the Gulf of America thing.

I also predict Denmark and NATO will harsh words and longterm NATO could dissolve but I do think the military industrial complex oligarchs will do everything they can to stop Trump and it’s so hard to see him defying his own oligarchs.

Talk to anyone you might know who works for Lockeed, Raytheon, etc. Like half of their revenue stream the next 5 years is tied up in orders placed by Europe. It would be utterly stupid for those companies to let Trump fracture NATO and drive half their business to the German manufacturing that they are trying to ramp up asap because of Trump and Trump alone.

The big provocation that could happen is if Trump orders the US to board a Denmark naval vessel around Greenland. If that happens and how it happens especially then let’s revisit at that point. If a true act of war happens with Europe by Trump then all bets are off, NATO is done, and we will be immediately diminished on the world stage. It would be the collapse of the US empire pretty damn fast…. Even a dumb ass like Trump isn’t that foolish one would think.

But yes I do expect him to say very soon that Greenland is now part of the US and make a ton of news but ultimately like The Gulf of America I don’t think it’ll mean anything.

 

Funny during the Cold War a base was good enough. I guess we need all of the island now. Nothing to do with all of the resources on the island. Right?
