Very doubtful Greenlanders are eager to give up universal healthcare, tuition-free college education, very robust social and work benefits for an unknown and evolving system in the U.S. that under this Administration is weakening worker protections, education benefits, and social benefits. This is not to mention respect for the environment, wellbeing of fellow humans, for laws, morals, ethics, and decency

 

A good amount of bellicose talk about Greenland coming form the administration. In response, the PM of Canada is set to visit upon the opening of a Canadian consulate there and the following is being frequently shared among Canadians and Europeans.

Too bad Canada doesn't have a real military in any sense of the word.

The U.S. should have Greenland.

Denmark can give it to us, sell it to us or we can take it.

I was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base back in the day. Once a year we had an air to air combat contest between different bases called William Tell and the Canadiens were always in attendance and always faired quite well. Liked to party as well. Lots of Brodour beer

The United States has 2,650 fighter Jets.

Canada has 79 fighter jets... mostly antiquated CF-18 Hornet's...

Our capabilities are worlds apart.

Canadian service members are assuredly nice and friendly but that doesn't mean their military isn't impotent.

 

Greenland is part of NATO. If the U.S. uses military force to "take it," they could invoke Article 5 for collective defense against the aggressor, the U.S. I can’t believe I just typed that. It’s a crazy time. And boy, some posters here are really revealing themselves now. I’m not sure whether it’s a cult of personality or they were lying all these years. Whatever it is, I have zero respect left for them.
