If the country descends into chaos then it will take a lot of resources and troops to protect oil execs and workers in that country. Maga may have not thought through all the ways this can go bad. Why would Trump be unhappy? He got his bribe; he should be good, no? Trump has really shat the bed in the legal case against Maduro though. Was its some gun las violation? was it narco terrorism? or was it straight up oil play? The DoJ has gone into court with the drug law violation, but has to defend every stupid thing Trump says. Trump threatening the now-in-charge Venezuelan VP if she does not bend the knee and make Venezuela a vassal state, ie no narco terrorist drug angle, makes the DoJ have to defend vindictive prosecution.

I think we'll start to see like half the Republican party and all its donors days before the raid being quite active on the stock exchange. Its always about the grift, and the twitter headlines. You know I think the telling thing is that in the makeshift "situation room" at Mar A Largo the only thing you see on the big screen behind them is a twitter feed with the word "Venezuela" in the search bar. Tells you everything you need to know about these morons. And you see it here that their sheep troll farm come on online on command to meme the sh$t out of the internet. I'd like folks to remember that this board is now well over 25 years of age and there are more than a few of us who were posting here during the initial stages of both Afghanistan and Iraq. It doesn't take much searching to figure out who was mostly right about those wars from the get-go and who was disastrously (and often comically) wrong. I will say this for the ones who were wrong back then: they didn't tend to resort to sentence fragments and bro-insults. Reading some of those threads from 2003-2004, a few Cons actually tried to argue in support of the war, including the Bush position that there were huge caches of WMDs, with point by point posts, wrong as they were. (Meanwhile, Trader Jorge was running the exact same playbook as he does today.) Hope this helps.
