I don't have the video in front of me, but I could swear this was Reed on a sequence of possessions during the Mavs game: 1. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens 2. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens 3. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens 4. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens 5. busted play, Reed circles 120 degrees around the arc, catches pass on the right side, swishes the 3 6. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens 7. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens 8. stands in left baseline corner, waits, nothing happens etc.
Reed is somewhat tied to Steve-O and/or screens to unlock his game. So was Steph. Difference being GSW ran plays designed to free shooters and the Rockets do not. Contrary to the handful of sets HP uncovered recently. It’s not a staple of their offense. Curious, has Reed ever gotten the kick out to the corner? Seems like we avoid him despite him shooting a decent percentage on corner 3’s.
We do have designed plays. They just don't run them very often. Maybe our amateur eyes can't spot them when they happen. It's not just Reed. It just feels like we don't shoot a lot of corner 3s. Okogie is pretty good at open corner 3. Jabari too.
Yeah, sounds about right. While its been incredible to watch Durant killing people one on one at his age - it's a bit sad to see it impact the offense of all the young guys we are hoping will take the torch from him.
The last time I saw a defender rushing to block a corner 3 consistently our star had a big Beard. It's been an issue since the Silas years, we just don't do it really, it's probably a big reason we rarely see as many rushed closeouts in general on our shooters compared to us closing out the opponent...
I know I am biased. But I swear I see the opponents keep shooting (and hitting )open corner 3s while our guys standing in the corner wide open never receive the ball.
Tonight Amen on 3 straight possessions passed to wide open 3 pt shooters in the corner. They were all bricked. We got a ton of wide open 3 pointers tonight, but they just weren’t falling. Amen the point guard is happening before our eyes, but so many have Reed colored glasses on they just can’t see it. Ime is always going to run an iso heavy offense. He just needs to adjust it away from Durant and onto Amen and Sengun. Amen’s expected assists has been through the roof lately. He is also getting to the line frequently and hitting his ft’s. When Amen is on the bench Sengun should run the offense.
For anyone curious... Okogie takes 63% of his threes from the corner and hits 37% Jabari takes 36% of his threes from the corner and shoots 41% Reed takes 17% of his threes from the corner and shoots 55% So for whatever reason, there's a strong inverse relationship between corner three volume and corner three proficiency. You'd think we'd find Reed in the corner a lot more often considering how much of his time is spent standing there waiting.
