This is what you get when you compete with owners willing to guarantee against non-performance without security with good performance. I don't like it and never have. But here we are.
With the now 80%+ chance of a work stoppage after next year… everybody could be considered to be on a 1 year deal. I could also see players who are locked into contracts (presuming there will be some sort of new structure post tax/floor negotiations) get some sort of opt out workaround negotiated in. Or baseball could just get their heads out of their asses and figure all this stuff out now.
