Yao needs to reach down between his legs and pull his panties out of his mangina, and start playing with a burning desire to win. Right now, he is a tall player with skills who lets lesser players push him around. We need more attitude out of him, more passion, otherwise, he will be a Rik Smits player and never a star. DD
Yao scores in spurts. He's been doing that his whole career. last night he was in foul trouble and playing a little here, a little there, and could never really get in a rhythm. It happens. It happened in the first three games. And it happened last night. Yao is going to be alright. If he plays his normal 35 minutes his stats for the game would have evened out. Though there are a couple of things I want to see, things that will help Yao: I want to see JVG stick up for Yao and get a technical. Hell get thrown out of the game for once. Let the refs know what unfair sonofabitches they are. I want to see Yao to pick up the ball and slam it down on the floor the next time the ref makes a outrageously unfair call against him. Run at the ref, get slobbering mad, and call him all sorts of obscene names. I want to see Bowen and Padgett play with Yao more. These guys know how to get Yao the ball. They rarely miss that important split second opportunity to pass the ball to him. I don't want to see Mo Taylor play alongside Yao. Ever. I don't want them on the court at the same time together.
man, all this b(tchin' and whinning about Yao... Give me a break...He's still one of the best players in the NBA and at times, yes, he could step it up, but degrading him like JVG does isn't going to make him respond...Negative Reinforcement will not work for Yao, period...
IMO Yao will start to dominate on a more consistent bases when he establishes a go-to move. Right now he takes too long to make his move and gives defenses time to adjust. If I was the coach, the first thing I would do is demand Yao to learn the sky hook. Catch and shoot, Yao might not make it every time but I'm sure he could have a good percentage with the hook. There is no one in the league that could stop a Yao Sky Hook. Once Yao has a go-to move this will open up the rest of his game. Dream had the Dream Shake, the defense concentrated so much on that move that Dream then could pump fake, spin up and under and so fourth. I believe Yao has great post moves but first he must establish a go-to move.
JVG said the right thing. He is slow to adjust to the changes in the game and needs to comecome the mental blocks that he has when things don't go right.Refs will never bail him out and the defenses will remain complicated and hard. He has to work harder to overcome his flaws. I think he is always worried about making mistakes but remaining passive will make him more tired and make things worse. If he gets aggressive and tries harder the worst thing that will happen will be fouling out quickly but it can lead to better results in the long run.
I'm tire of watching defense, it time for a change and that change is a new coach. I rather watch a offense team score 100 and lose rather than a team score 75 and win.
I'm sure you'd be happy being a fan of Dallas or Sacramento... and call me when they win a championship. Meanwhile, the Detroits, San Antonios, and potentially Houstons (teams that don't need to score to win) will be happy taking all the glory in the mean time.
Yao needs to play harder. He really does half ass it most of the time. Whether it's because he is physically slow, tired, whatever, his effort level is at like 70% when he is in the game. He will never ever reach his potential if he does not step up his aggressiveness or passion. He will always be a good player, but until he plays with purpose, he won't ever be great.
I was listening to 610 today and they said something that makes sense...Yao needs to stop with these art moves like the one handed jumper and just go balls out to the basket and dunk it like it's on fire! BE MORE AGRESSIVE. I blame his culture I never met a shaq like China guy.
