Just finished House of Guinness. For some reason I liked it.

S2 will probably be in 2028 and I'll completely forget about it by then.

I've been very disappointed with the writing on a couple of shows recently. The most disappointing has been The Lowdown that was created by the same guy who did Reservation Dogs, which is incredible. I don't know how this show has 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Aside from most of the episodes just being kind of meh, the end of the season includes unbelievably stupid actions from two major characters that just actually made me angry because they were so stupid.

A close runner up is Last Frontier, which was also generally meh, but there was one episode towards the end of the season that was almost entirely exposition. I couldn't believe that a major production had writing so bad. It was like a high school student who didn't know how to use ChatGPT had written it.

Watched 1.5 episodes of Dispatches from Elsewhere. Thought it was an interesting premise at first, but by the second episode decided to look on the internet to be spoilered as I was getting suspicious it was going to suck. I'm certainly glad I didn't waste my time, absolutely not my type of show. 2 out of 10 stars.

I can't relate at all to a bunch of over-the-hill Gen-X guys attempting to relive their glory days in pursuit of a paycheck. Nope.

Down Cemetery Road: 7 / 10 - Meh murder mystery drama series from the UK. The first half of the series is better than the second half. It gets predictable towards the end.

Resident Alien - Decently entertaining show that gets bogged down in meandering storytelling appealing to its core audience and somewhat overstays its welcome during its 4 seasons. Worth a watch, but not by much. Be ready to skip and fast forward alot. 5 out of 10 stars.

    Mayor of Kingstown S4

I often wait until two weeks prior to the finale before watching a show so I can catch up a day or two ahead of the finale. Unfortunately, I buzzed through the first 9 episodes in 5 days and now have to wait another week for E10.

I had to force myself to begin watching but locked in almost immediately. If you like this show, get started ASAP. Believe it or not, the intensity goes to another level. Sunday can't get here fast enough.

Lennie James is outstanding! Edie Falco is mostly a dud. The acting and scripts for the recurring characters are great.

I'm pretty sure this is the final season. It's like the end of a fireworks show where the last half of the fireworks are launched in the final 30 seconds.

Ghosts Australia Season 1: 7.5 / 10 - It's worth a binge watch if you like Ghosts UK or US. Stay patient as the first 2 episodes are really slow/bad! It got better towards the end but not as good as the US and UK versions.

The new Beatles Anthology on Disney+ is the best documentary I have seen about them ever.

I will lose my man card for this, but my wife goaded me into watching the Taylor Swift End of an Era documentary. We are through episode 4.
I'm not a fan of hers but the documentary is amazing both on a visual and personal level.

I will see my way out.

Just finished the first season of Blue Lights. I give it a 9.5/10.

It's a Northern Ireland police drama. If you like British police dramas, you might like this. It is similar in a lot of ways, but the vibe is different. The character development was excellent, the cast is very authentic and the season wrapped exactly how I think TV seasons should wrap.

There are three seasons of 6 episodes each and I'm going to mow down the next two. S4 will be released late this year.

    That's a quality show.

Have you watched any of the good Aussie/NZ cop shows?

Have not watched any Aussie cop shows and would welcome some suggestions. If it's more than 20-25 episodes, I probably won't watch but might make an exception.

~10-15 years ago, I went through a period of devouring a boatload of British crime series and fell in love with the 6-8 eps/year, zero fluff format which, thankfully, made its way over to America.

The short seasons are a big reason why I love those shows....I've watched a few of them last year, hope I get the names right...

    Mystery Road
    High Country
    Troppo
    The Tourist
    Mr. Inbetween
    Scrublands
    ....
oh, and there's also an excellent comedy/drama-ish: Colin From Accounts

Dear Life S1: 8 / 10 - We just binged this new Australian dramedy series and it's worth a watch. 6 quick episodes and keep the tissue nearby in case you're slicing onions.
Definitely sets up for another season but it hasn't been renewed yet.
