Well, I'm glad you know the future so well. Happy for you. While you are at it, let me know the lottery numbers.

I've had an EV 7 years and everything about the experience continues improving. Why is there reason to believe things will go south? Serious question.

A lot of this self-driving stuff seems like all of AI in that somebody built it (or tried to) without a large demand for it. Who was asking for this? It's a supply trying to create demand rather than the other way.

I too have owned an EV for a number of years and love it. It has a self-driving mode for interstates that I engaged twice for no more than a few seconds. Did not like it at all. Extremely uncomfortable feeling. If something went wrong, it would take me longer to react than if I was just driving the car myself. As a result, it almost seems like you have to pay more attention to the driving than if you were just doing it yourself.

Lots of people are asking for it. It's safer than human drivers, and eventually should be more cost effective. Of course, I am talking about Waymo, the one that actually works and is taking on customers. Not the fake service that Tesla is shilling.

I suggest you take a 2-3 day test drive of a Tesla and experience FSD 14.2. After years of blowing a lot of smoke, the product took a big step early last year and since then has rapidly advanced the last 18 months to the point it's become my favorite feature.

    It will shock you.

At least Waymo doesnt have phantom braking issues like Tesla.

Good numbers from Waymo, but they still need to solve the last 10%.

I can attest that the FSD 14.2 is absolutely mind-blowingly insanely good...revolutionarily good.

I was a Tesla and overall EV skeptic until I tried the new FSD software and having one to use for daily driving was an absolute no brainer.

For the skeptics, don't knock it until you've tried it.

I never bought into the whole AGI/sentient AI narrative, however using FSD has me questioning the possibility. Its less about specific examples but more of the culmination of the entire experience. The hardware on these vehicles are not massive data centers - Its several year old hardware utilizing 5MP cameras. The ability to process this much information and the inference capability is mind boggling. This isn't "oh, it sees a piece of trash in the road, it avoided it". You can see in real time as it makes better moves than the average driver.

It places safety over speed, so no, its not going to get you to your destination faster than you nor will it make questionable moves human drivers would otherwise do.

Mapping, which is different than the FSD software, still needs major improvements.

It's 2026. Has Tesla Robotaxi been opened up to half of America yet?

ironically the competition is the CEO himself...

Tesla Falls Behind China’s BYD as Vehicle Sales Drop for Second Year
    https://www.wsj.com/business/autos/...econd-year-in-a-row-958dec20?mod=hp_lead_pos1

US demand for EVs is softening, while Musk’s right-wing political rhetoric has alienated some consumers in Europe, experts say. Tesla’s dethronement was all but sealed when the US eliminated its $7,500 EV tax credit at the end of September:
Tesla sales plummeted 16% in Q4 after the credit expired—worse than Wall Street’s already low expectations.
Last year was the second straight year that Tesla sold fewer cars than the year before.

But don't worry, new grift is here..

Car sales still account for ~75% of Tesla’s revenue, the Wall Street Journal noted. But symbolically? Maybe not. Musk has pivoted to touting the company’s plans in robotics, predicting that 80% of its value will eventually come from its humanoid robot, Optimus.
