It depends on how much the US is willing to sacrifice to preserve Taiwan - and how much "damage" losing Taiwan would cost the US decision makers.

There are just too many factors undefined. If CCP attacks Taiwan, are they also attacking other US areas at the same time?

I will just say that these "war game" scenarios are released and leaked by the US military whenever they want additional funding.

They released one only a few years ago and got additional funding...... there was even one released at one point claiming that the USA would lose in a Cuba invasion.

We are being conditioned for war - or more precise - a new Cold War type threat.

China isn't stupid - neither is the US or most countries.

It isn't a binary situation though, situations can escalate and are not always clear.

For example, If China were to attack Taiwan, and the US was to destroy or attack another Chinese holding, it could lead to a protracted war.

I personally am in the minority when it comes to Taiwan, I think that the CCP uses that as a carrot in many situations, they have the potential to lose quite a bit by taking Taiwan, even if they are successful.

If I were the King, I would considered telling China that they could take Taiwan, no questions asked, if they take out N. Korea first and force it to unify with S. Korea. This would eliminate the greatest nuclear risk on the planet.

At this point ... @No Worries checks the cards in the hand he has been dealt ... selects and plays the 25 Year War in Iraq card, followed by the 20 Year War in Afghanistan card.

In a war of attrition, it comes down to manufacturing capabilities which is a battle we've already lost. And modern war is largely carried out by drones which is a lane that is dominated by China.

Our domestic drone manufacturing is complete dogsh!t. Check out how the Anduril drones are doing in Ukraine. Our MQ9 drones made by General Atomics run $30 million a piece and the Houthis in Yemen took out over 16 of them using rockets that cost them a couple thousand dollars to make. These private defense contractors have been running the Pentagon's pockets for years.

    N. Korea is probably China's closest ally and do you think it's N. Korea that's getting in the way of unification? Do you know why the Korean war happened?

The greatest nuclear risk on this planet is the party that stole nuclear material and intelligence from the US (NUMEC affair), refuses to join any nuclear non-proliferation treaty, refuses to register as a nuclear state or allow foreign inspections into their nuclear sites and also has a nuclear plan to blow up the entire world if they get invaded aka the Samson option which they've already threatened the US with on at least one occasion.

Could you imagine a world where USA had to draft soldiers from the current pool of today's youth.
You can't check you Facebook likes from a fox hole.

Although I suspect the basement dwelling gamers would be pretty good at guiding drones.

China says U.S. will only ‘harm itself’ after Washington approves $11 billion arms sale to Taiwan

In Response, China Launches Blockade Drills Around its Island Province
    [IMG]

the drills are part of a series of Beijing’s responses to the US arms sales to Taiwan as well as a warning to the Lai Ching-te government.
Beijing had earlier on Friday sanctioned 20 U.S. defense companies and 10 defense company heads for the arms sale.
