Been waiting since Dream for the next great Coog hooper. Sampson coaches great college teams and develops deep rotation-quality NBA players.
When he goes around a screen to the elbow area, that pull up middie is always there for him. Today's NBA defense has been conditioned to not guard that area because it's supposed to be an inefficient shot. But players like KD and CP3 make a career off of that shot because it's almost automatic for them. Reed has the ability to do that too.
He’s doing all this the first year playing consistent meaningful minutes. Imagine him next year and the year after. People wanting to trade him are just plain stupid.
Agree totally. Trading any of our young studs to try and maximize KD’s time here is idiotic and I hope and pray that Tito doesn’t get impatient and instruct Stone to focus on winning this year and blowing it. If we have to trade Tari, because we can’t sign him, I hope it is for a 26 draft pick instead of some old guy to unseat Amen or Reed for a couple of years.
That shot is just "butter"! He's getting more creative with his shot creation, but what I love is his passing. He sees openings others don't and many times they lead to easy baskets, which we need more of. Loved when Durant received the pass and sent it right back to Reed who was wide opened and nailed the 3. We need more of that kind of sharing the ball.
We went from two Chuck O Matic 34% 3 point shooters to two Top 5 shooters in the league. Funny thing is KD and Reed can pull up from *anywhere*.
Reed is doing everything this season that people were hoping for last season. It just took 12 months for Reed to become comfortable in the NBA. What is exciting is that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Reed still has so much more to offer. He hasn’t even learned how to get to the free throw line yet, but that will come. Eventually, he will be the full time lead dog. He will be getting players in position. He will be directing traffic on the floor. He will be the player that his teammates look to for guidance. It may still be a couple of years until Reed fully embraces who he can be as a player, but that time is coming. Yes, Reed Sheppard very well could be our franchise player.
I said it so many times last season, when something takes a year longer than normal people on this board pretend like it will never happen.
This team will take off once Reed is inserted into the starting lineup permanently. Then he needs to be given the reigns and stop this insipid KD iso or Sengun starting drives from the 3 point line, lack of system offense. Everyone is saying we need a PG, but I’ve seen better shooting, defense, and passing from Reed than potential trade targets like Schroder.
