The spurs are legitimately better than the rockets, they are officially serious contenders unlike us. Deep team with a great mix of youth and vets. And they have a young superstar.
And the Spurs aren't beating OKC because they have Wemby. They are winning up and down the lineup--shrugging off the Thunder's physicality on both ends. But when Wemby checks in, you can see the sense of defeat fall over OKC. He elevates an already good team into greatness because they can't drive the basket when he's in the game. The Thunder second guess everything.
Someone open up the paint ...... maybe draft more athletic forwards.....to combat that. I like what the Knicks did to the Spurs in the NBA Cup Final. Gotta follow that. The Thunder have too many 6'5 guards, need to upgrade to more 6'10 players.
It's sad how brief it was that the Rockets were the best team in Texas. With the way things have been going, it wouldn't shock shock me if we were 3rd best by the end of the season
LOL. Some reports also had him at 7’4” barefoot. Also Zach Edey was 7’ 3 and 3/4” barefoot and he looks noticeably shorter next to Wemby. Kareem has said that he measured at like 7 foot and 1 something (and that’s after years in the league and that this was after he grew more since the draft), so his 7’3” listing was definitely in shoes. Same with Ralph Sampson both of these guys were shorter than Wemby but especially Kareem. And once again, what’s Kareem being an iron man have to do with Wemby who’s already missed probably almost as many games in his 2 years as Kareem had in his entire career lol. Wemby’s height is an anomaly in the the NBA as only a few guys ever were as tall as him. And most of them had significant injury issues and shortened careers. And I don’t mind Wemby. I think he’s fun to watch and unless they play the Rockets I want him to do well. I think he’s got GOAT potential. I just think there’s a higher chance than normal of that being derailed by injuries due to his size.
I think the guard rotation of Fox, Harper, Castle, Vassell, Keldon, Champagnie worries me a little more than Wemby at the moment. The rotation of Dejounte Murray, Vassell and Keldon Johnson was already pretty good and prototype for them. Wemby shielding the rim for those killer guards is what makes this so potent.
Yeah they are legit and they are officially ahead of the rockets. Young superstar and a good players with good iq unlike the idiots that we have on our roster
The rockets are just so bad. We are so far behind. I have a feeling this loss might finally push presti to cash in some of those picks at the deadline
The Spurs are cut from the same cloth as the Thunder with bigger, more athletic guard bodies on POA, they generate TOs, but don't turn the ball over themselves. Mitch Johnson looks like the New Mark Daigneault.....no wonder they got this good so quickly stylistically. It is pretty tough to combat that packing the paint intensity.....but not impossible.
Crazy since this post was made the Spurs have literally beaten the Thunder 3 times. With Wemby coming off the bench. It's a lock.
If okc and the spurs play in a playoff series this season, i will happily book any amount of action you want if you think the spurs have any chance in hell.
LOL. Yeah, that post of mine kind of ages like milk. But look, I still don't believe in the Spurs. They are in a hot streak. And they probably match up well against OKC. But they aren't better than OKC. And I think they will drop in the standings when Wemby and/or Fox miss games again. I like our chances of being higher seed than them come playoffs time. Yeah, this is homer talking.
It's a wakeup call for the Rockets to not rest on their laurels because of... 37 year old KD. They need more high ceiling players. I'd look into packaging Van Vleet, Jabari and a future 1st for Zion .. or Trae Young. Someone who can go toe to toe with all the elite talent on SA.
I think he has been talking about longer term, yeah, I think the Spurs would be a force in the next years to come..... Who is better between Houston and them, it all depends on moves and how the players develop though. And injuries.
The Spurs knocking off the Thunder in the playoffs may be just the path the rockets need. I would much rather take my shot against SAS
