So do we rest our guys next week if Jags beat the Colts tomorrow?

I would. There is zero chance the Titans beat Jacksonville in week 18. We need to pretend it's a bye week.

There's even a legitimate question on which is better.

A bye week + a road playoff game
    Vs
No bye week + a home playoff game.

Depends on if you care about seeding and who you want our first round opponent to be.

I worry more about rust than rest.

I think if someone is banged up you rest them but if relatively healthy, you play them at least a half.

You can work in fewer reps for the important players.

Not a fan of resting players the entire game. Meet halfway and play 2 qtrs.
Easier decision if the Colts can get the dub.

No, we gotta finish at least 5th n play the Steelers. I like that better than winning the division n playing Jags, the Chargers or the Bills.

Hopefully Philly beats the Bills today

Oh same, but for most NFL games the announcers are decent. Some are exceptional, like Tirico. Eisen is so bad I can’t even fully articulate it. He plays head games with flags, he gets information wrong, he’s slow, inquisitive, like he’s conducting an interview. He says things that don’t make sense (season hanging in the balance for the Chargers). **** that guy.

He’s alright for interviews but he’s as bad as any play by play announcer I’ve ever heard. I’ll take the local high school football radio announcer over that guy.

Yall 'member when BOB and the rapist rattled off 9 in a row in 2018.

I hated just about every moment of it.

Why? Because we, as a team, were failing upwards.

Aside from a rookie QB performing above expectation, that team, especially the head coach, was hot garbage.

We got some lucky bounces and played some awful, awful teams.

And even still, when it mattered in weeks 14+ we **** the bed to close out the year and then got summarily bounced by the Colts in the wildcard... a team piloted by a QB who was so mentally broken he ****ing retired two weeks later.

    _________

This team is different. This time I'm enjoying the ride.

Injuries notwithstanding, they're getting better with time.

They're beating legit teams, in big moments.

The coaches aren't making braindead rookie mistakes (even though the coaches are a lot greener than BOB and his staff was).

Is it perfect? Of course not. But you can see the progress. It's not smoke and mirrors.

The last couple of years, yes, it felt like we were simply the cleanest shirt in the dirty laundry (AFC South), but now you can see the long-term picture coming into view. This is something worth investing in as a fan.

No. Not with the division still up for grabs.

Yes, the Titans are ass, but wilder things have happened.

If the Jags beat the Colts the Sunday schedule will probably feature Colts vs. Texans @ noon and then the Jags in the late window to maximize viewership.

Depends on how many playoff scenarios are still alive after today though.

Texans can tie franchise record 12 wins. First time (2012), only a 3rd seed. This year, 4th, at best. Bad timing, but no surprise the same franchise has never advanced passed Division round or won a road game.

Bye week guarantees Division round and mitigates injury from an extra game.

Sadly, the outcome for either scenario is no Conference round - but this is Texans best chance in history with a weaker AFC and the defense.

Starters prob play a quarter or first half next week.

I would say obviously if division is in play, they must go for it. But I would also say, if they’re going to be a wild card, securing the 5-seed and a 1st RD matchup w/ likely Pittsburgh (assuming they beat Cleveland today) is worth playing for. The Bills need to lose to open up the 5-seed (playing Eagles today). Another thing about seeding: You could make a pretty good argument that wild card seeds 5 thru 7 are all very capable of winning their 1st RD matchups w/ seeds 2 thru 4, a scenario which would set up a victorious 5-seed to host a 2nd RD playoff game. Now do NFL teams usually prioritize such scenarios over health? Absolutely not

Agreed, except the Texans "getting better with time" part.

They barely won this week (see LA kicker) and barely beat the Raiders last game.

Texans need to lean on their defense and hope tge offense does enough. Oline needs seriously attention this offseason, and Caley needs to understand how one second is very different than 3.

So as best I can tell, Texans Fan is rooting for:

    Draft reasons:
    Cardinals vs Bengals
    Browns vs Steelers
    Titans vs Saints
    Jets vs Pats
    Raiders vs Giants

    Playoff reasons:
    Colts vs Jags
    Eagles vs Bills

[and for @B-Bob reasons: Panthers vs Seahawks and 49ers vs Bears]
