Jabari is clearly trying to expand his game. He is driving more. And he loses the ball a lot more because of that. I'd give him some time to get it down. If he doesn't have significant improvement by playoffs time, I'd give up and want him to accept being a spot up shooter. He is more decisive at taking shots. He used to pass up shots unless he's wide open. Now he can better judge how far the defender is so he can shoot before the close out has time to block him. His defense and rebounding looks good. I think most people on CF underrate him.
Last time a certain Trever Arizer started thinking he was Tracy McGrady and decided to expand his 'game'.... That Mofo missed 10 straight 3s.
I think I'm ready to move on from Jabari. He should have some nice value and could be a great addition to a team like Orlando.
He is supposed to be more talented than Ariza. And I don't think Ariza was trying expand his game. He just thought the Rockets wanted him to be in that role. I think Jabari has accepted being the 4th or 5th option in the starting lineup. I don't blame him for wanting to be more than what he is.
I agree with you, and besides free-throws (which he seems to always miss a few in the clutch) he definitely has the clutch gene. He hits big threes and makes important plays on defense and on the glass. He is the type of player that can push a team over the top
Yup, it’s been a slow progress but it has been a progress. He’s obviously better this year. Unless you’re getting some kind of grand slam deal, getting rid of him would probably be a mistake. He will take longer to develop but in his prime he should be a perfect fit on a championship team. Switchable on defense, can rebound, can nail the shot.
For me Jabari is very consistent. I think night in and night out you know what you're going to get. That is also part of the problem... he isn't going to ever step up and win you a game or get flame-thrower type hot. Which is quite bizarre considering it seemed to happen a lot at Auburn. At some point you need a bit of variance and obviously with him being selected very high it's a bit disappointing that we haven't had many "Jabari" signature games. I'm not sure who we can bring in to help but I do know future draft capital is always important. A player like Derrick Queen that many people here were high on was recently drafted at 13, for example. Lastly, he skill set is extremely redundant with Durant so maybe he's taken a step forward this season but it's hard to tell since Durant takes up a lot of the same spaces that Jabari does on the court. The bull case is that you really buy into that Durant is going to mentor Jabari the next 2 years then Jabari will take a big step forward when he's 25-26.
year 4 and 0 improvement. gun to your head. name one thing he's improved. the most average NBA player in the league. and we paid him HOW MUCH?
He's a -19 which is a team worse. I'm sure there's no blame. It matches the eye test. He's on the court doing nothing. After his 11 point first quarter, he reverted to the usual Jabari.
Deceiving. He showed up the first quarter and has disappeared once again. Team worst -19 and he was a team worse -19 in the Pelicans game we lost by one point. He's not really contributing. And he's started to get targeted by both guards and forwards now. Harden it took it to him over and over and either got fouled or scored easy. Same thing Bey did in the Pelicans game. Even in the Nuggets win, Ime kept him in with the reserves in what was supposed to be garbage time and he DID NOTHING and forced the other starters to come back in. He's straight up not doing his job as a role player. Remember we won a ton last season when he got hurt.
Opposing players see red when he's guarding them and they're either scoring at will or getting fouled. No resistance.
Got absolutely FRIED tonight by Kawhi and Harden. Paying him 122 million American dollars to get hunted is insane.
