His age and contract are a positive, unless you don't think Simmons isn't at least a star. How do you know what the market thinks about his contract? Jokic makes less because that's how NBA salaries work, he'd be making the same as Ben if he was a #1 pick. Based on what? Simmons is also the best defender and primary ball handler too, you focus way too much on what he can't do while not acknowledging what he is really good at. Fultz couldn't shoot, couldn't defend, and couldn't run the offense while Simmons can do two out three at an elite level. Simmons is a point center, not a point guard.
Dude is a max player what do you mean the market doesn't think the contract is a good one? Westbrook isn't efficient like Simmons and doesn't defend like Simmons. Fultz was traded because he was a bust, not that he couldn't shoot. You already admit SImmons has tremendous upside being only 24 yrs old but still think he should lead a team to a championship immediately? We dont know what will happen in the future, but Simmosn being 24 means you got time to figure it out. Harden is much better than Simmons but he is 31, in 5 yrs he will be washed up unless he is a genetic god like Lebron. If he is extremely unlucky, he can fall off a cliff like Cp3 as early as next year. If you remember, we had to trade a boat load of assets for 31 yr old Cp3 but in only 2 years we needed to give up 4 picks to trade him away. That's the kind of fall off you are risking with Harden.
Take him off the ball and hes ineffective away from the basket. I'm going to keep watching him but Sixers just have a roster full of shooters and bails out Simmons completely from being first option for a basket. Take the transition part away from him, hes really way too useless offensively. Hes not someone that can thrive on any roster, and Rockets definitely aren't going to enjoy having him. Draymond is elite defensively, hes still earning less than Simmons. Yes, there is an upside, but he doesn't deserve that money now. There's no guarantee he'll deserve it later. Yes, thats the way the salaries work. That's not the point. The future of this team sucks with Simmons on it because hes just not worth the money if he never learns to shoot. Also, you reiterated my point about Fultz inability to shoot. When someone out there can't shoot you can't even afford one more non-shooting player. Yeah, they kept Simmons because he is better of the two. But ultimately they traded Fultz because he can't shoot. Otherwise, they would keep him because guess what he also has a big upside.
it was either this thread or the Ben Simmons's Clippers thread . . . this one has more posts/pages Ben Simmons puts NBA return on hold for pro fishing career https://nypost.com/2025/12/23/sports/ben-simmons-puts-nba-return-on-hold-for-pro-fishing-career/ I gotta think that this is like Jordan playing baseball. When Ben Simmons returns to the NBA after having put his career on hold, I'm sure he'll win two or three championships, you know, just like Mike
Ben certainly looks better at catching fish than shooting a basketball. He caught more fish in 1 day than total 3 pointers made in his whole NBA career.
bro really wasted everyone's time. i respect it. got his money then went fishing. Chase budinger made us think he was a basketball player when he really wanted to play volleyball.
Quality work from the article's comment section: "His fellow fisherman claim he refuses to catch a fish himself unless he sees it up very close, and even then he too often hands the line to his closest teammate." ... "He also cant cast more than 10ft" ... "So in one sport he can't 'throw it in the ocean', but in his next endeavor he 'HAS' to throw it in the ocean..."
