A bootleg released weeks ago, and a cinema version has been out there for days. Now, finally, 20th Century Studios has officially released the first trailer for James Cameron’s upcoming third “Avatar” film – “Avatar: Fire and Ash”.

Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family.

The third entry in the series takes us back to Pandora and introduces two new Na’vi tribes: The peaceful merchant-like Wind Traders who traverse the world in dirigible-esque skyships, and the warlike Fire People who ride on flying beasts.

The events in this follow in the wake of “Avatar: The Way of Water” with Jake and Neytiri still dealing with the loss of their son Neteyam.

Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña’s Neytiri and Oona Chaplin’s Carang are all featured in the trailer for the film which also stars Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge, Kate Winslet as Ronal, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, and Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore.

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” i due out on in cinemas on December 19th.

I'll probably wait until it's released on Disney+.

Didn't watch Avatar 2 until last month.

I don't get the hype. They're all extremely boring and predictable

I think its pretty simple to be honest, they are the best looking 3D movies made so they are perfectly suited for the big screen. Namely, more expensive 3D and IMAX screens which makes it easier to rake in the cash. The stories are almost secondary with all the tech Cameron is throwing onscreen, this trailer is a prime example, saw it before a 3D showing of Superman and it just looks fantastic but watching it again on the computer is a totally different experience.....

I loved the first two movies. Pure popcorn entertainment and escapism. James Cameron may not be the strongest storyteller but he sure knows how to make a blockbuster.

That said, I was disappointed by Fire and Ash. It was underwhelming and all too familiar. It didn't push the story, characters, or action in new directions. It was still a fun movie, but it's a step down for sure.

I'll watch when it is released digitally. At 3+ hours, it'll take me 3 days to slog through it.

I'll see it in the theater because I really want to waste that money. I've missed 3D films on the big screen and regretted it later, even though the only difference in this film's storyline appears to be "evil" Na'vi.

I think my main problem will be, "Why TF is this so long?"
I like long engrossing movies, not movies that are long because the filmmaker didn't know where to cut the flab.

It was a fine Avatar movie. If you are going for the plot, you are doing it wrong. You go for the visuals and a serviceable plot that moves things along. My biggest complaints about the movie were that I didn't see it in IMAX 3D (only XD 3D from Cinemark). In terms of the movie itself, there wasn't enough different diversity in terms of environments. Too much stuff in the water, it was the same movie as Way of Water. They needed to bring more scenes into the mountain and volcano area. The whale storyline was played out, it didn't even really matter much.
