I missed the Kings game last night, and damn! it's just too much work the morning after to read through all the threads to uncover the wisdom of Clutchfan pundits analyzing what went wrong. So I thought it would be helpful to offer up a dedicated "Monday morning quarterbacking" kind of thread to make the post-game search task easier. So who do we hate this morning? Ime? Jabari? KD? Reed? Steven Adams? probably deserves its own poll.
Ime and coaching staff are on the Clutchfans chopping block. So is Sengun, Jabari, and Eason. KD is currently on the fence. Reed and Amen are safe for now. Clint status has not been updated, want him out of here.
the thing with trading Green away and bringing KD in is that the organization made a shift that we are supposed to win in the next 1-2 years. as constructed with these bad losses to very, very bad teams... it's getting harder to see that vision come to life. knee-jerk or not this loss combined with the Pelicans loss really are depressing. We can get up for good teams but do we have enough juice to get past multiple teams in the playoffs? i'm not sure.
Basically I get you up to speed......dribble dribble dribble, if the shot does not go in, a rebound or a Turnover.
Amen safe? He is special but this has to be one of his worst shooting seasons, and his Defense has regressed a lot. Him missing bunnies reminded me of Tari's rookie season. He is playing on borrowed time that is.....
It’s not knee jerk, if the same thing keeps happening over and over. Ime sucks, is not knee jerk. It is being demonstrated almost every game. If I saw an inkling of trying to address our obvious issues, I would be patient. How many years have we struggled on in-bound passes, one of the most basic plays in basketball? How many times do we have to turn the ball over with Durant initiating from the half court line, before you stop insisting on it? Of course, it is still whining, but not knee jerking. We will be whining all year, because of the idiotic extension given to this bonehead coach.
I think everyone realizes that Amen is being put in a position that's going to make it hard to succeed and I believe that's why we are seeing a regression this year. I don't hold that against him and I imagine most reasonable posters don't hold that against him either.
This proves it was not just Jalen.....Green got scapegoated ....and the Offense was borderline horrible last year as well. Surely Green is not a 2nd Overall Pick, did not help, he is more like a 17th pick....but the issues were there.
No way, the organization leaves Udoka and his staff unscathed after a potential 2nd Round Exit, and a Big IF ....the Rockets might slide to 6th or 7th...... This would take care of itself. How are they even shooting 45-50% from 3 running that horrific ISO Offense is beyond me.....but okay.
we turn the ball over too fkn much.... Either guys (KD) get doubled and nobody comes over to receive the pass and we lose the ball... or we're sprinting down court and the ball gets poked.... or we try to do ball movement and the passes are soft and easily intercepted... idk why we pass so softly... theres never any zip...
yu Amen did fine on the few instances he was asked to initiate the offense last night. He has missed a lot of layups to start the season and that is an issue, although that has turned around the last 3 games. One of the roles of a pg is to break down the defense by getting to the lane and drawing attention. When he inevitably begins hitting the bunnies, he is the best initiator on this team. In Utah, he was 11/11 before missing a couple of fade aways in the lane, so Ime hands the ball over to point Durant to blow the game. This last game, Amen had 8 assists and 2 turnovers. He should have been handling the ball down the stretch. The only other argument would be for Reed, but you absolutely needed to pull him even before Ime got around to it, because he was absolutely getting abused on the defensive side of the ball. Last year the excuse was we didn’t have shooters. This year is we don’t have a PG. We have both this year, we just don’t have a coach that can put them in a position to succeed.
KD, Jabari, Sengun, Amen and Reed are all turnover machines. Sengun thinks he's Jokic when he isn't. Some hard truths need to be addressed. Jabari and KD should dribble almost never. Reed isn't experienced enough to run the team. Amen cannot run the team until he can shoot. Sengun is a paper All-Star and the team needs to make a decision on whether or not he'll learn to shoot. Because if he can't then we need to pivot. Maybe all of this doesn't matter with Fred here but I'm starting to agree with those that say we are a first round exit with the wrong matchup. Reminds me of that Dwight/Harden team that got bounced in Round 1 by the Blazers.
There were some bad losses last year too. Easy to forget when we finished strong at the end of last season. Good to get a wake up call early in the season while there’s still time to improve. Going through some bumps now will hopefully allow us to finish stronger and peak near the end of the season. Better this than thinking everything is great only to get your weaknesses exploited in the playoffs like last year. These last two losses will hopefully prompt some real decisions about how best to use Sengun, Durant, Reed, and Amen.
