DHS just released a video titled "Christmas After Mass Deportations." It's a series of rapidly displayed images that aren't coherent in the least and all seem to be from earlier Christmases when there wasn't mass deportation. At the end, you see this: "Mirthnuke."

i don't know how to tell you this, but Bari Weiss doesn't work at the White House, she is the EIC for CBS News. I don't think the editor pulling a story is what true government censorship looks like. Even the reporter whose story wasn't aired said it was CORPORATE censorship. If there is a credible report that the government censored the story (maybe emails from the White House telling them what stories to kill, like we saw with COVID?) that would be more concerning for me. If the editor doesn't want to run a story though, it doesn't get run. I would say, the jury is still out on this one.

Obviously, if it does come out that the White House censored a story, that would be terrible. Freedom of the press is foundational to a free society.

 

Hilarious that you forgot to mention Bari was installed at CBS as a condition to accept the merger with Paramount. Instead of looking at the balance sheet and other financial metrics to approve the merger it was only approved if a republican donor bought the network.

The Paramount merger was approved by the strictly for the reason you're seeing now aka to kill stories that are bad for the WH

the White House declining to comment on a story developed by one of the most liberal partisan "news" programs on television is NOT censorship. The head of network news for CBS pulling the story and waiting to air it at a later date is NOT censorship.

dude, your shtick is getting so old. fwiw I was a fairly well-regarded Ivy League professor for almost 30 years. In that 30 years I never once (not once) got the kind of insults you routinely hand out on a daily basis. Against my better judgment I dipped into this thread to offer a comment, now I will bow out. you have a nice day.

 

Again with the supreme court establishing implied threat by the govt as violation it could be, and certainly her appointment as part of the requirement for the deal with paramount could provide backing to that. The administration has a track record of violating with the whole Kimmel mess.

It isn't far from a clear cut lack if censorship. But without more information, it isn't clear cut violation at this point either.

But it is reasonable to look at the track record, the story, and believe it merits further investigation.

What is interesting to me, is that the same people declaring not censorship because it was an editorial business decision are many of the same ones who were claiming that Trump was facing censorship with the Twitter and Facebook bans, despite those not being government actors and Trump violating the terms of use repeatedly.
