I'm sort of down for it, I'm a basketball junkie so would love for the comets to return and the WNBA basketball is a lot better than most of the other junk on TV when the NBA is in its offseason. Would be cool to have a team to root for.

Seeing how low attendance is for a Rockets game at Toyota Center is, I don't see how a WNBA franchise would survive in Houston.

The Comets are nostalgia, but I don't see how nostalgia for a women's basketball team would translate to success in this city. I'm surprised that the DASH soccer team is still afloat

 

For me, the WNBA had a sizzle 25 years ago that doesn't exist now. Part of it was being a shiny new thing back then. The players were also likeable and had a lunchpail attitude that I found appealing even though the basketball was meh.

I wish Tillman Fertitta success but I'm a pure NBA guy now.

 

Just don't know how you can make a profit given how much league revenue goes to equity investors before the teams.

Doesn't seem sustainable... probably more of a vanity thing since TF was early comets investor

About lack of IRL game attendence. And about being over Comets nostalgia. Something I'm overanalyzing, is report that Gen Z went to the movie theaters 25% more than last year. And are the biggest theater movie watching group. And even increased their home viewing content.

Can make a theory on possible sign of generations shift. That for younger generation, all things are still "new enough". That hope isn't quite lost yet about them "not going outside".

And maybe it's actually older gens are more tapped out & checked out. That they are too over-extended & worn at this point lol. That maybe things just need to go to younger fresher ways.

The old Comets are champion pedigree. So even though its old news, it's not too retro retread to revive a dynasty. But maybe it's seeing enough glimmer in young gens for product support

If there's a market it would be cool to have the Comets back in Houston.

But the WNBA still isn't making money so it's more of a charitable gift to the city than a business venture.
