:48 — Reed, first impression of Steven? We were in Miami. He came up to me and was like “You’re country right?” I guess? He’s loud, big guy, annoying but good teammate, good dude. Talks a lot.

31:03 — Do you feel when you’re in the game with him you’re gonna approach it differently? Steven: I tell them. Reed: He’ll tell me. If you’re open it, shoot it. I don’t care if you make it. I just get happy you shoot it. I get a free run at the basket. Just shoot it. I’ll get the rebound. Miss or make, he’s like “Good shot!” Steven: Just shoot the ball. Don’t turn it over.

34:20 — Did you watch any NBA guys in terms of modeling yourself after? Reed: Not a whole lot but Chris Paul has always been one of my favorite players. The way he controls the game with his pace, the way he moves and reads he makes. I’ve always been a fan. I love watching all basketball. Never had that one player. I’ll watch different people and see what they do.

35:10 — How are you juggling shooting and controlling the game? Reed: It’s completely different than college. College you have 30 seconds. If you come down and dribble and shot is there with 25 seconds, probably not gonna shoot it. You’re gonna swing it around, like 5 passes. Here, you come down and take 3 dribbles and you’re open, that’s considered a good shot. It took me awhile to figure that out. You don’t have to swing it. If you’re open, that’s the best shot. Steve will be like “Just shoot it.” …

39:22 — (were talking about NBA trends and where it might go next) Reed: Steve’s gonna have to learn how to shoot. Steven: Shouldn’t have brought that up. Guess who won the 3pt contest between me and him last year? Reed: it was 5 spots. He won one spot. Steven: I didn’t win one spot. I won the whole set. What are you talking about? Reed: Then we did it again this year and he did not win. It’s impossible to shoot against him. He’s in your ear. You’re not shooting a shot where you’re not laughing. Steven: Playoff ready!

40:24 — What makes Alpi so tough? Steven: His movement patterns are very bizarre so it’s hard to time. He moves like kung-fu panda. Nimble but it’s like dang. It’s weird. He’ll throw up a shot that you don’t think should be there But it’s there and it’s a good shot for him. It’s hard to time. Reed: What he said. There’s certain moves and shots he shoots, you’re like “What’s he doing?” and then he makes it. Or he’s like underneath the basket and he’ll do like a back bend and it’s super hard, obviously I’m not gonna block it but a lot of bigs don’t block it. The certain moves he does, it’s not a normal hook shot or layup. It’s something else.

41:40 — Favorite play of Amen’s? Reed: My favorite play was not in a game. In practice, I don’t remember when but he shot like a floater on the right side, missed it, bounced off the rim, hit the backboard and before you know it, he was grabbing it off the backboard one hand and dunked it. Not many people can do stuff like that.

42:22 — Have you seen an athlete like him? Steven: Obviously I played with Russ and he’s a ridiculous athlete and Ja is a ridiculous athlete too but they’re all different. Amen is one of these where he’s different. It’s very unique. Like he said, situations where he’ll shoot one side and gets the rebound and in your mind, doesn’t calculate but it happened. Reed: Doesn’t make sense. Steven: It does not make sense.

43:23 — Steven: There’s a clip from like last year, Amen was 4 steps behind a transition break and how fast he closed the distance from swiping it out of the dude’s hands to being 5 steps back, it looks so stupid how fast he’s going.

48:24 — What makes Ime so good? Reed: One, he just cares. He loves the game of basketball. He’s played. When coaches are players, they understand. He knows what’s going on. That’s a huge thing. Some people are just good coaches and know what they’re doing.

49:12: What do you feel makes a good coach? Steven: Ime displays this. A good coach, Ime, one of his best qualities is there is no ego there. He’ll let assistant coaches speak up when they need to. There is no hierarchy or “I have all the answers”. Reed: Not trying to one up anyone. Steven: Some of the players might have stupid ideas but he’ll listen. The assistant coaches he put around him, they’re very capable and can speak up.

51:56 — Dillon Brooks as a teammate Steven: He’s a great teammate. Wears his heart on his sleeves. Goes out there, very much genuinely him. Go dive, stick up for you, knock some dudes over. You appreciate that. Off the court, almost a complete opposite. Reed: Complete opposite. One of the nicest dudes. Steven: Such a lovely dude. Nice guy. On the court, bloody menace. He’ll elbow you. He elbowed me. Knocked me in the ribs.
