Interesting 1) FVV implies Ime doesn't know how to communicate. Says he has to act as a buffer between players and coach because "you know how crazy that gets". 2) FVV says our offensive process is ****ed right now. KD says it can be better. However, our offense is exactly the way Ime wants it. He wants to live and die by offensive rebounding and without starting Reed who can ease the playmaking issues. 3) They want more shots for Jabari but from where? KD and Sengun are too efficient, so it would have to come from Amen. Not sure I agree with doing that. If Jabari wants to start with this unit he'll always be mostly catch and shoot. 4) Apparently Tari's jumper is no mirage, they believe in it. 5) FVV is rehabbing and training as though he'll be back this season. It's not likely but he's just motivating himself that way.
Hot take: But amen shouldn’t be taking more than 5 shots a game. I’d rather have all of amens shots go to jabari.
Heck naw! I cringe every time when Jabari take fadeaway jumpers when he has 6'4" guards defending him.
No, that's short sighted. We already know for a fact from last season that if you put Amen in Jabari's role (switchable forward) he is better than Jabari. Don't confuse Amen's learning a new position with his actual ability to produce. Point-forward Amen is always available if we want to give up on developing his handle - something that benefits us for the rest of his career.
Can't believe I'm defending him but I don't agree with that. Basketball is defense and offense. At half of basketball (defense), he's arguably best in the world. Any team he's ever coached has over achieved defensively. He's A+ on this side of the court. On offense he's got great knowledge and fundamentals. He's great at developing offensive skills. He just sucks balls at CHOOSING the right offensive system. An assistant coach can fill that gap easily. Then Ime will ensure that the team executes the plan perfectly - cause he's good at detail too. I'd call him a C- coach on offense. If you look at the last 20 championship coaches, you'll find people who are good on both sides even if they're not offensive or defensive geniuses. Radical offensive and radical defensive coaches rarely win titles. MDA/JVG types tend to be unsuccessful. Kerr, Spo and Pop > these guys are two way coaches. Dignault and Mazula seem to be joining these ranks. Have a bit more faith, even as you make valid criticisms. Coaches learn too and the right assistant can change a lot of things.
Jabari had 18 opportunities to put the ball in the basket with that weak ass fadeaway shot he loves to take...I just dont understand how he's 6'10" and play soft, doesn't like to bang in the post/drive through the contact when a smaller player is guarding him!
I wouldn't say our player development program sucks...a player is who a player is. Jabari is a poor man LaMarcus Aldridge
