They were up 10-0 before our defense ever took the field. 17-0 by the end of 1. The entire team was on cruise control. I would read exactly nothing into it. Ryans is very obviously load-managing and keeping players healthy and fresh for better teams/more important games.

Favorite thing he did that game.

Any time there was pressure on 1st or 2nd down.. he threw to his checkdown to avoid the negative play. That was his next step as a QB from his first two years. Flawless game. Teams are in big big trouble if they can’t get the Texans behind the sticks.

i don't care about an exciting offense, i want an effective one. if the line can protect cj and run block we are golden (if we can fix redzone shitshow)

The formula is correct. Be a game manager, avoid negative plays, avoid turning it over. This comes at the expense of explosive plays but that's fine. If the Texans can just convert red zone opportunities into tds at an average level, we are going to score enough to win against any team in the playoffs with our D

He's not mixing in explosive plays downfield so it looks more pedestrian. But, yeah - Stroud's full-season pace since week 4 (minus Denver game): 32 TDs; 7 INT; 99.2 QB rating.

If we get *that* CJ Stroud in the playoffs.......

It's so nice when the interior OL is able to prevent rush up the middle. Allowing CJ to step up and pick apart man/zone makes them extremely hard to stop.

That's 4 great QBs and one below average QB, which is what BTG has been saying about CJ for the last 8 weeks, before this past weekend.

Its admittedly been a slow moving thread the last few weeks.... just saying. Nothing negative to report.

It's almost like there's a direct correlation between him playing poorly and people criticizing him for playing poorly.

    Crazy.

Pedestrian approach in CJ's case is growth. His throwaways vs AZ were some of his smartest composed plays. Then almost all of his incomplete passes were throwaways. Otherwise without those, it's near 100% completion rate

Its sexier getting WR's more targets. But if the defense gives you 90% completions to "vanilla" TE's & RB's at 6-9 yards each, and you're not taking that, you're bad at offense

Add in CJ's improved playmaking plays with feet. Sure it's been rough path to this point, but it's adding up to a better rounded QB now

With a clean pocket CJ is a top 5 QB. When he goes up against top tier defenses he's not going to have as many of those clean pockets. How he played against the Chiefs gives me hope that he's improved in making plays from a dirty pocket. With this defense he only needs to make 5-6 plays a game for this team to win a SB.

What would you like to see for this team to become a more creative offense? Another question, when is the last Texans OC that you thought was creative?

Adding talent will be the only way to fix the RZ issues. God they miss Mixon.
