I was clearly being sarcastic. It’s just funny that our best red zone play to date so far this season was pure luck and an accident.
Right, I was just pointing it out because I'm wondering how many of our other weird plays have been scenarios where the wrong thing has been said in the huddle.
The one yesterday that was a direct snap to Ogunbowale was also funny. He stood there like he didn’t even know what to do when he got the ball and we lost like 5 yards.
Do you really think a team that can't line up properly and remember the snap count could pull that off if they were trying to do it?
Honestly, it would seem to be a good fit right now and this is probably the last year where it would be possible. He's only 36.
I remember JJ saying he would consider it. We could sure use another d lineman. I'd also love to see JJ get a ring in Houston. Would be the cherry on top.
I'm not sure if he could get into game shape in time and if he really wants to give up his cushy after NFL job for one more shot at it....but it would be one hell of a story.
JJ should stay in the booth. This is not a Phillip Rivers situation where a QB can make an impact pre-snap and making the right reads, even if they are physically limited (and Rivers looked cooked anyway yesterday). I highly doubt JJ is in NFL shape and in order to make an impact at DT, you have to be strong, quick, athletic, and in tip top conditioning.
I don't think anyone would suggest he be an every down player, but if he could take a few downs here and there, it would help their depth. It would all depend on what kind of shape he's in right now.
Honestly I trust DeMeco to turn those P Squad guys into productive players for 10-15 snaps a game. With Hunter and WAJ book-ending them, the expectation on the DT isn't exactly to be Haloti Ngata or Vince Wilfork. Just maintain gap integrity, try and create a little push, and don't get put into the ground right off the snap. But man I have to admit the idea of JJ suiting up for a playoff push gets me right in the ball bag.
I have this really nasty feeling that we are gonna end up playing the ravens in the opening game of the playoffs. Please, please, please no.
