Things were too positive... it's Houston sports. But what really is positive is that we can either acquire someone or bring someone from the PS. Everyone would love to play for our defense. Having Autry is key.
We scored 40 but it still felt like we left a ton of points on the board...I can't complain too much about being 3-6 in the Red Zone, but the league average is about 56%, so still below average. CJ was splendid, he was really gotten better at avoiding sacks and sweeping laterally with his legs to work guys open, perfect example of that was the TD pass to Schultz. Efficient, accurate passes to gain yards, with an occasional explosive play...can't ask for anything more. His rating was over 137! And Jawhar Jordan...have yourself a day! A fresh, hungry pair of legs came ready.
It opens up a roster spot for Jaws (Jawar Jordan) though the DL room is getting thin. It's a risk that happens if a player is elevated from your practice squad and has a good game. He's not protected as a Practice Squad member if they are signed to another team's Active Roster.
I think beating the Chargers will come down to turnovers, and our ability to crush their running game. Stroud and Herbert have both played against 4 of the top 10 defenses. Technically 3 for Stroud, since he didn't play much in the Denver game. They won 3 and we lost 3 of those 4 games. Herbert had 5 TD and 4 INT and Stroud had 3 TD and 3 INT in those games. We have the better defense but they have the better overall offense. We are close in passing defenses and offense. They have the edge offensively in the rushing game but, we have the edge defensively in the rushing game. So, it could go either way really. I'm counting on our defense as always, and hoping for an interception frenzy like last year.
I’ve always loved Mark Schlereth since he started to appear regularly on ESPN. Just now watching the full game and found it interesting that he apparently spent some time during the week before the AZ game talking to the OL at practice. (But after seeing a similar thing with Collinsworth on the NFC East Hard Knocks, perhaps it’s not that uncommon.)
