Well, that sucks. My fave Houston news anchor of all time (not that I really watch the news anymore, but still...). R.I.P. Mr. Ward.
It's been a rough few days here. Dave seemed like he was part of the natural firmament of Houston for decades. I guess he is really there now. RIP.
I ran camera for the morning news with Tom Koch and Gina Gaston back in the summer of '94. Tom was a nice guy. I wasn't around Dave Ward much, but I remember him being friendly to everyone. We watched Live At 5 every day at our house growing up. Dave, Shara, Marvin and Ed Brandon were a great team. It's amazing how long they were there together.

I have a feeling Marvin was one of the first to welcome him to Heaven.......telling Dave, there is NO slime in THIS ice machine Man I feel old, now that half the 13 team is gone. my family was channel 13 news during our childhood and I kept that going until he retired
I was curious, but from the KTRK side, these are some I could find whose names sounded familiar or I knew well : Thom Dickerson was a reporter around that time who passed away, as well. He was there since the 70's and seemed like he worked there into the 90's (?). Alan Hemberger who got there later than the guys you mentioned, and was an anchor, also passed away a while back. Stephen Gauvain was a reporter I vividly remember from those days. NASA honored him, flying the U.S. flag half-staff over Johnson Space Center and sending his pictures into space aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia, June 20, 1996, the day and hour of his funeral. Cheryle Keck was a morning anchor, I guess - she was there from the late 90s. I wasn't as familiar with her. I'm sure there are others. On a side note : Dan Rather is 94 and still kicking - he got his start on KTRK many many decades ago before going over to KHOU.
