In June news broke that Texas Democrats Colin Allred, James Talarico, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke and Rep. Joaquin Castro met to discuss the 2026 election. Operatives at the NRSC realized that Crockett — whose political stock had been rising — wasn’t included in that meeting and also hadn’t been included in any credible poll. So they decided to change that. Following the NRSC’s polls, other surveys began to include Crockett and showed similar results: She was surging in the primary. The NRSC then worked to amplify those polls and is taking credit for helping “orchestrate the pile on of these polling numbers to really drive that news cycle and that narrative that Jasmine Crockett was surging in Texas,” the source said. Crockett herself even admitted she was encouraged to jump into the race by all the positive polling she was seeing ahead of her announcement. “The more I saw the poll results, I couldn’t ignore the trends that were clear,” Crockett said during her announcement speech.
It will require a shift in the ideologies of the parties. We are seeing it happen with the Republicans and MAGA. As usual the Democrats are out of touch. It has happened before before but doesn't shift often.
Conservative Latinos getting excited about a candidate enough to turn out in large numbers is the major thing that could happen to finally flip the state. IMO the Dems shouldn’t have just ran Bobby Pulido for a House seat but maybe elevated him quicker to have a run at this chance they don’t get often. That being said I think Talarico has a chance with the high turnout he’ll get from the reliable Dem voters and IF he can make public education destruction in Texas a key issue (which is hard to do with federal Senate debate topics) he’ll have ALOT of Texas people who lean R or make excuses to vote R who have recently seen the destruction of our education system and really have a chance to flip voters. Crockett is basically a huge wild card but I think it’s good she’ll be featured in the primary even though Talarico I think will decisively win to primary. Texas is a non-voting state and her being in gives an opportunity to maybe pull some areas off the bench and into play. I’m thinking about those areas in East Texas that have a large African American population and culture, and maybe get more organization on the ground In Harris, Dallas, and Fort Worth which in the southern and East part of the city has big pockets of voters she could appeal to that Talarico might not activate.
Talarico is really good, he reminds me of Mayor Pete, very calm, knows his facts and his excellent in a debate
What is it interesting is where that pronunciation actually comes from. During the days of importing people to be slaves from Africa the slavers didn't want Africans who spoke the same dialects to be together. So the different folks that were enslaved couldn't speak the same languages. They weren't allowed to be educated or learn to read or write English. So they put together English the best they could combined with the West African dialect similarities. Since language patterns are passed down from families who also weren't allowed equal access to education. The patterns used in the word 'ask' wasn't common to the West African dialects but the sounds from 'axe' was. So it was what was used and passed along. It takes about three generations of educated people to change that pattern. It's amazing the lasting impacts of American slavery.

Exactly. We will soonest with electorally signifcant decrease in Christian Latino support for the Repubs based on the blatantly non Christian immigration policies of MAGA . If Talarico is already polling only 3 pts behind Paxon, he will win. Cornyn is better at hiding essentially the same bs.
