Skip to my Lou is looking pretty damn good. 2 clutch 3 pointers with 2 minutes left in the game for Toronto against the Trail Blazers. Wish rockets had signed him this off-season.
Haha! He just threw the ball up in the air, caught it and started to dribble. Refreee bob Delaney loooked confused for a second, thinking if he should blow the whistle. He wasnt sure if it's legal or not
Did he do the "boomerang"? You know acting like you're gonna pass it and flick it with your wrist and the ball comes back to you?
Ooo the boomerang... if it is the "boomerang" can somebody post that gif? I love how it works almost every time..... the defender looks back confused and by then you can pop the 3 or drive by.
The guy's certainly a good player. He's just not 6-years $28 mil good. Even if he does have a couple of solid seasons, the end of that contract will look very ugly.
Sorry.. but this is a crazy statement.... IF (and I said IF) he continues to produce what he currently is for the next 5 years, then he'll be on a regular salary for a starter.... Name me a starter (no longer on Rookie scale) who can produce what he does on less? If it was 6 years $38 mill (Derek Fisheresque) that'd be too much....
Yeah that's not even $5 million a season. $4.6 million for a starting PG who can give you roughly 15 and 6 every night? In today's market thats a bargain.
He is having a good year so far with the Raptors. But I still think they WAY over paid him. At least he is a huge contributor though.
Crazy statement? When did Alston ever showed that he's a starting calibur PG before this season? If you think 7 games is a good representation of a player's value, then you have a short term memory. Remember when the Rockets gave Moochie that ridiculous contract for 26 nice starts? Yeah, that turned out really well...
Last season with the playoff bound Heat. Better questions would be when was the last time Charlie Ward showed he was a starting caliber PG? Was what Sura did in Atlanta for 25 games enough to show he's a starting caliber PG? Rockets screwed up when they let guys like Brent Barry, Rafer Alston and Damon Jones go to other teams so they could save a few dollars. A few because those guys really didn't get that much more as individuals as the combination of Sura and Ward got, I think around the same amount of years as well.
So one season at 10 points, 4.5 assists on a .500 ballclub is worth giving a player 6 years, $28 mil? For a player whose 28 years old? Well, if you think that's the right market, then I can't argue. As for start-worthy, here are the career starts for the players you mentioned. Alston: 48 D. Jones: 39 B. Sura: 146 For what it's worth, Sura's numbers in seasons when he had a decent amount of playing time are 13/4, 11/4, and 14/5(quarter of a season with the Hawks last year).
28 million is not that much, even at the end of his contract it won't be so much that it won't allow the Raptors to go out and get a better player, the Rockets actually have 3 bench players making as much. How old are Sura and Ward again? They'll be around the same age when they finish their contracts as Alston will be when he finishes his and he doesn't have a history of back problems like Sura does and he doesn't show signs of aging like Ward does. You mention .500 ball club, well that's a lot better than what Sura's teams have done when he gets some playing time.
One season BACKING UP a great player in Wade at PG. They saw what he could do if he were to be put in a starting role and gave him a fitting contract. I think (so far at least) that it was a bargain for the Rapts'. Great signing.
Hang on - this is not even what we are talking about! YOU SAID The guy's certainly a good player. He's just not 6-years $28 mil good. Even if he does have a couple of solid seasons, the end of that contract will look very ugly. As if to say that 6 years and 28 million is a big contract. WE ARE SAYING that it is no massive contract at all! In fact, it is a pretty meagre contract for a starting point guard. If Antonio Daniels doesn't get that money when his contract expires I think we'd all be surprised.... And as far as that contract being "very ugly" at the end... NO WAY! It won't even be significant... just a standard mid-level exception type salary - the type of salary you pay for an average player - if he's anything more than average then they got a massive bonus, if he's simply average then they paid the right money for him. Do some research and prove that there are starters (not on rookie scale) who are definitely better than Alston (even last season) and who get paid significantly less. If you can show some examples then I will change my opinion and agree that he is overpaid...
anyone who says that Alston is No good or not worth the money.....they definetly have not been watching any raptor games.....the guy has the lowest TO/Assist ration in the league.....plus look at his Shootin% as well as his Total assists. plz watch a few games....and see he his NO Charlie Ward.
