I think having this W/L record would be more like a C+ if we'd been fully healthy, but with Fred out of the season, no DFS at all so far, and hardly any Tari, I think I have to say it's an A- to basically be on par with last season's team so far. Exceeded expectations Sengun Sheppard Okogie Holiday Met expectations Durant Smith Jr Adams Mildly disappointing Thompson (mainly just his regression in shooting outside the paint, IMO everything else has met expectations given his change in role/offensive usage) Capela (the numbers aren't bad but eye test says his defense ain't what it used to be) Barely played or didn't play, due to injury or other reasons VanVleet Eason Finney-Smith Tate Green Davison Are these guys actually on the roster? Isaiah Crawford Tyler Smith
KD gets an A, and Sengun an A- , Stevo gets a A-. Holiday gets a B+, and Reed a B. The overall result is a B minus imo.
A- but I was tempted to put B+. Positives: - Reed - Jabari taking a step forward - KD being more of a mentor/teacher than dominator of possessions. - Amen playing more on ball and improved handle. 80% from the FT line seems to be overlooked. - Okogie being micro Dillon - Adams being a ball vacuum - Not having to watch FVV micromanage possessions. Negatives: - Sengun/KD two man game crutch feels both unsustainable and inefficient. KD cant hold on to the ball under pressure and Sengun still cant shoot. - Amen taking a bit to get his PG legs under him - Reed stamina taking a toll on his shots and his defense - KD's "defense" is him having a 7-5 wing span or whatever. - Sengun whines too much I think this team is fun but a little uncohesive. "The give ball to KD and get the hell out of the way crowd" seems to not grasp why KD couldn't win titles without Steph and Draymond.
Sign Chris Paul, another Coach on the floor and off. Fred VanVleet can't Coach in X and O, but Chris Paul can.
If we didn’t trade for Durant we could’ve been heap of trouble. I’m pretty sure we would’ve got Kahman just like PHX did which is long term project player and Jalen being out due to hammy would’ve put us close to 500 record. This league is story driven and we had nobody that catches media attention so we could’ve been similar trajectory Kings took couple years ago. KD being here put more pressure on our organization and young players to step up instead of contemplating where they are as tier 3 team
Reed, Sengun, JSJ, Okogie, and Adams exceeding expectations. Amen, disappointing for play. Tari...weird season. Disappointing injury. Shooting was a plus, but he took a lot fewer shots at the rim. Offensive rebounding was also down. FVV..disappointing injury. Team would be stronger with having a deeper guard rotation. DFS...disappointing surgery recovery. Holiday...surprised he's played as much, but he's doing what he always does when given time. A- overall as almost everyone who has played has played well. Injuries making team work harder.
I'm the other A+. Basically second in the west with 3 rotation players out for most or all of the season. The second best point diff in the NBA. I don't know what people want. We had two boneheaded losses on the second night of b2b, one without Sengun. The other losses were close losses to top teams - two to the best team in each conference before we figured out rotations due to the FVV injury.
