Our defense at the rim is terrible

If that isn’t a cop out idk what is

I’m asking you point blank, with Reed on harden and Bog, and the no rim defense continuing all game when he was out …are you really willing to take such a lazy approach?

while you’re at it why don’t you blame Jalen Green for our misses too

at some point peoples agendas become insufferable. We get it, you don’t like Reed and think he slept with your mom. Send him a letter instead

Reed and Holiday (his substitute) were equally bad on defense. You just have rose colored glasses. Reed is extremely important to this team. Criticizing his obvious shortcomings is not an agenda, it’s a legitimate concern if you care about the Rockets’ chance to compete. He has to improve his defense to play in the playoffs. We need his shooting, bad!

Again you too, the D was the same regardless of Reed being in and out.

actually the 3rd quarter stretch when Durant went to the bench we had our best defensive effort.

He doesn’t switch half the time and when he does it’s too slow

Aaron Holiday also plays piss poor D, at the end of the game he didn’t even attempt to get the rebound from 5 ft away when the clipps got 3 misses in a row. That’s exactly why this cherry picked narrative of Reed is so stupid and annoying. I’m not even arguing he’s a good defender, I’m just calling out people using it as a scapegoat to mask a much much bigger issue.

Aaron Holiday is a much worse defender than Reed and the numbers back that up. But all we hear every game when Durant doesn’t switch or senguin is on skates, or holiday puts no effort : “rEeD suX”

    it’s just intellectually lazy

Reed my other post and the game thread. I criticized Reed heavily. He’s making a lot of stupid mistakes and if Ime benched him last game he deserved it. I’m probably one of the only objective people on this board

Obviously it isnt all on Reed - those are just the most glaring examples.... and DD pisses me off, so i went after his boy as the primary example...

Our rim protection is all about Steven Adams... as is the flow of the game in general on many nights.... the dude sets the defense tempo.

Adams is in and we build a lead... Adams sits and the lead disappears... Adams comes back in and we regain the lead...

Its no wonder that when we lost to the Jazz and Mavs - bc Adams didnt play.

I dont know how anybody cant see this...

If the thread was "Our rim protection sucks - when Adams isnt in the game" - fine, fair enough...
If folks want to discuss Senguns regression on defense - fine...

and the part that burns my biscuits... Is DD claims that Reeds deplorable d is excusable bc of his scoring abilities... Reed has the 4th worst scoring efficiency on the team.... meanwhile Adams is #1 highest and Sengun is #4 - but we're going to have a thread casting aspersions on their rim protection... wtf, really? and this is after DD claimed that Adams is irrelevant and Capela is a waste of money... what? Thats like saying coaching doesnt matter - and then blaming the coach for a loss...

I like Reed Sheppard... i hope he goes on to be a superstar... but the way he gets fan-boyed just confuses the fk outta me...

How are you defining scoring efficiency? Reed has a higher TS% and eFG% than Adams and Sengun. If you're basing it on FG% alone that's going to be incredibly misleading as he takes a high volume of threes which are worth much more than twos. It would be like saying Steph Curry's career 47 FG% makes him less efficient that Al Jefferson's 50% career FG%. In reality, Curry is a super efficient scorer and Jefferson wasn't efficient at all.

    Final Rockets-Clippers score was 115-113.

On the same night, Denver dropped 135 on the Kings and Pelicans dropped 143 on Blazers (no overtime).

Allowing 113 points is normal in the NBA. Certainly more nuanced conversation can be had, and team can always strive to be better.

Modern NBA offense, players are going to score at other teams at the rim. It's going to happen, just do the best you can.

    Everything in contexts.

im just stating the stats as they appear on ESPN... for scoring efficiency, Adams is 1.468, Sengun is 1.349 and Reed is 1.242 (with Amen, JD and Crawford behind him)....

Houston Rockets 2025-26 NBA Regular Season Stats - ESPN

edit - my bad... i didnt realize they split home and away... those are home #s (on the road, only Tari, Uncle Jeff, Amen and Crawford trail Reed)

Adams definitely stays within his role, just like Capela. They are specialists, and as long as they do what they are supposed to do, they will be efficient as they are fed. There are very good reasons why our 3 top players are KD, Sengun, and Amen right now.

Jabari never slides to help. Just throws his arms in the air confused.

id also add that their efficiency is based largely on offensive rebounds and easy put-backs... which the quote i heard the other night was "the best offensive rebounding in the history of the league..." Yet still, some want to disrespect them...

Adams is an absolute monster. Some nights he has a higher impact than Sengun, which is saying a lot because Sengun is stuffing the stats in almost every category. Capela is being underutilized right now, but he will be needed when they start bunching games up for us in the near future.

Makes sense that Steve-0 was also a long time Thunder. A Presti-ge type.
