I played on the Clear Creek Wildcats baseball team until my sophomore year and dedicated my skills to high jumping.
It was a good move. It earned me a Scholarship to SFA.

I used to play ball with Jay Buhner, if that name rings a bell.

My son’s soccer annual fee went up to $4300 this year. Overall I’ll probably spend about $9000-$10000 when taking uniforms and trips to Seattle South Carolina Colorado and Indianapolis. That is even with flying Frontier to save money this last weekend and driving from Atlanta to South Carolina to save money. It’s quite ridiculous.

Also throw in a trip to Dallas Houston twice San Antonio twice from Austin. Watching him play is still my favorite thing in the world to do though.

I don’t do politics or religion with the plebs. There is no salient argument with these people. I lay the breadcrumbs out and if they follow them, that‘s a good outcome.

"Pay to play" soccer has long been an issue. The costs associated with being on a traveling team are off the charts. This is why so many that do not have much in the way of disposable income never get to flourish in the sport. I also think this is why our national team is stunted in growth. Inner city basketball and football are semi cheap compared, and that is where some of this nation's best young athletes move towards. The same can be applied to youth baseball and hockey.

Yes. I also have no choice if he wants to play in college. My kiddo made (along with 2 other sophomores) varsity at Westlake high school. But that in itself is not enough to play in college. Nor would he have been good enough to make it without the club practice and experience.

College football has been a professional sport for a long time, at least now it's out in the open.

But did they charge parents a subscription fee to watch their kids play? Did they ban parents from recording their kids?

    I do not know.
We have to pay for "Dance Bug" to watch my niece competitively dance in competitions.

Not if they are a state school and benefit from State subsidies or money it isn't.

Only PRIVATE colleges should be able to do this....STATE colleges like Utah, should not.

Nice. I never liked the CC baseball coach very much. Jay was a good dude; I was friends with his younger brother Ted.
