What a waste of talent, he could’ve been what we wanted out of Jalen Green.

Mentality is part of your draft profile.

Seems like whoever at Villanova was telling teams to stay away were right. Always take draft boards with a grain of salt. There's a reason players drop.

For all of his faults, Green still got drafted second. Likely because the GLI people told teams that he did probably have a good work ethic. Jaden Hardy by contrast fell to the second round.

Like I said - while Middleton is done as an NBA player - Whitmore is - *at best* a replacement level addition for any team and not really a useful player for Washington, they have better guys than him.

The one game I went to vs the Hawks Middleton was actually good as the Wizards were basically unstoppable runng the Middleton CJ pick & pop in the 1st.

The Wizards ran the Hawks out of the building that night and Cam alone managed to post an 0-0-0 stat line despite being in the rotation. Just indifferently jogging up & down to stand in the corner.

The Wizards coaching staff is in a difficult position of having to lose to keep their pick (top 8 protected) but the problem is they started out the season so badly they were threatening 10 win or less territory - no team wants to be that. That's overdoing it

It's silly to suggest the Wizards treat Cam Whitmore as some kind of prized asset. At best the guy is their 5th or 6th best player 25 or under and he is simply just *not good* at NBA basketball.

On and off the court he is basically begging to be benched, and he often gets his wish.

Frankly it seems to me - and I don't mean this as a burn - the guy would benefit from some counseling or therapy sessions. And also learn how to pass or play off the ball and defend.

I don't think he'll last the season, maybe even not till Jan 1. That's on him not the Wizards l.

I guess it's obvious by now that Cam is a knucklehead with all-star potential talent. Seen it before. Will see it again. It's always unfortunate.

What a sad waste of talent. He has so much potential if his head was screwed on correctly.

Clearly, that's just PR for sitting their best player to tank for the #1 pick

People criticize Ime for not playing rookies and not developing them, but I see that he gives talent more opportunities than most coaches (VSpan would have had a chance under IME). The difference? He actually gets his guys to buy in. And if Cam can't do it here, I doubt he could do it anywhere else.

Don't compare Cam Whitmore to Jalen Green.

    Jalen Green does play defense.

If you watch Bilal Coulibaly a 2 way player play compared to Cam Whitmore that plays a selfish Iso, doesn't play defense, can't move laterally, doesn't play hard on defense.

Well what appeared was that the Rockets were doing Cam a solid trading him to a much less talented team so that he could have a better chance to get minutes. Many people, including myself, kind of thought that he might be able thrive on a team that needed offense and had fewer players ahead of him for the role.

Apparently he did get more chances to play but has not gained the trust of the coach. I think it's one thing that you cannot perform at a high level. It's another thing you don't show that you are serious about being a professional off the court in practice. The latter will get you in doghouse for any coach.

his college coach hated coaching him and bad mouthed him during the draft process. Ime said he could be a 20 pt per game player in the nba, but ultimately couldn’t abide his attitude and lack of ability to improve in the areas they asked him to. You don’t see teams move on from super talented players after just 2 yrs on their rookie deal very often. Now this new Wiz coach seems to be frustrated with his maturity issues and lack of willingness to fit into their team concept.

hmmmm. I wonder if the problem is Cam or if those 3 coaches were the problem.

Cam is not a defensive liability. I’ve never seen teams target him defensively like Sheppard has all season.

Say what you will about Jalen, his effort could not be questioned. Just his talent.

Targeting a Player vs Doesn't care on Defense

Reed Sheppard does deflect passes that turns into steals.

Cam Whitmore not engaged on defense, on offense he gets blocked at the rim and doesn't run back on defense.

Maybe it will click for Cam -IF- he realizes NBA is a Rare Job that pays Millions and that his Family needs his support.

Cam needs to play for his family, that is why his last name on the back of Jersey.

Y’all still crying over this kid? :D (Seriously, this thread is constantly at the top)

DNP, 4 points, 4 points, occasional “good game”, probably still pouting, probably still playing no defense and definitely not passing. You’d think he was tearing it up.

This is not about Cam vs Middleton and yadda yadda. This not about Cam and his ability to play the game of basketball.

This is about Cam and his inability to do the things it takes to be a professional. He’s incredibly immature. As an organization you can only put up with so much. I tried telling you he had more issues when he was with the Rockets, but some of you want to make excuses for him.

Yeah I see this thread bumped and I expect to be someone serving crow and its still more of nothing.

He's just not an NBA player and he needs to fix up his act because I doubt any basketball team in the world will want to deal with him at this point and he could still make a lot of money playing basketball in some other league.

This is about the trade, not about him. Two 2nd rounders seem pretty sweet now. :)
