No and we shouldn't. The committee has been clear that they won't penalize teams for losing the extra conference championship game. Don't lose to Florida!
Guys, BYU won't win. Texas Tech will be playing for a bye and I expect them to beat the snot out of BYU, again. BYU is the most overrated and overpublicized team in CFB this year while Texas Tech is the most overlooked. It is so wild that either UVa or Duke will qualify.
THIS is ridiculous. And flounder against Kentucky. That was really bad and cannot be overlooked. I don't love Tech because of the schedule but they handled BYU with ease, cant deny that.
Not just Kentucky; we also needed a miracle to beat Mississippi State. I'm glad we had some big wins this year, but there's no chance we're a championship-caliber team. The kid-glove treatment Notre Dame receives is so stupid.
WTH am I missing here? Neither team played an opponent playing this weekend so strength of schedule is set. And if both teams are idle, why would one jump over another? Miami got screwed over bad and I hope they get in, but jumping ND at this point wouldn't make any sense other than the committee saying they never should've been behind them in the first place.
If Duke wins, I don't think the ACC Champ is guaranteed in. It's the top 5 conference champs, so you potentially have Tulane AND James Madison.
Correct, though I believe the ACC champ is guaranteed a spot if it's ranked in the top 20, which Duke won't be even with a win.
Very good article: https://www.espn.com/college-footba...ity-indiana-vanderbilt-virginia-money-winning
Texas Tech 34-19 Georgia 27-24 Ohio State 31-24 Virginia 34-17 12 Tulane v. 5 Oregon 11 Virginia v. 6 Ole Miss 10 Miami v. 7 Texas A&M 9 Notre Dame v. 8 Oklahoma 1 Ohio State 2 Georgia 3 Texas Tech 4 Indiana Miami jumping in and overtaking Alabama if they lose in the SEC Championship game is probably a bit of a long shot. The committee has claimed that they won’t punish teams for losing in conference title games if they were already in, but the committee also makes crackpot decisions and I just don’t know.
How is Vanderbilt not getting consideration over Notre Dame, Miami or potentially a 2 loss Texas Tech team? Their only losses were to Bama and a 3 point loss to Texas on the road They have better wins and a tougher schedule than those teams. I have no skin in the game...just an observation.
My best guess is because ... they are Vanderbilt. Unfortunately, politics still plays a role in all this and Vandy doesn't have the brand value of Notre Dame or Miami. Beyond that, you also can't put them over Georgia, Alabama, A&M, or Ole Miss. And OU has a win over Alabama plus the Michigan win. Their losses are a bit worse since the are neutral/home losses instead of away games, but the Michigan win matters a lot I think (vs VaTech for Vandy). So they'd have to be the 6th SEC team in and that's a difficult ask in a 12 team playoff. Plus if you get Vandy in there, Texas has to be considered due to the head-to-head and OU/A&M wins. Ultimately, just too many teams in the SEC with similar resumes and so someone has to be left out.
Courtesy of this month's Texas Monthly "Meanwhile, in Texas" page: "During a football game against the Florida Gators, Texas A&M police officers released to EMS a fan with a blood alcohol level of .337 who was found with a sandwich and a water jug filled with whisky." You ok, @Ziggy?
Alabama might have to go nostalgic and play Keon Russell if ‘Mac Jones lite’ Ty Simpson keeps playing the same way.
21-0 So maybe UGA won't choke a 2nd half lead to Alabama this time. Still plenty of time for it to happen again.
