Trade him for Russ, figure out your games don't mesh anymore, force your way out from two teams, re-reunite with Russ and CP3?

    One heckuva plan #3-DChess

    I see things both ways,

    1. You don't want a washed scrub coming in and undermining the coaching staff.

    2. It's highly unprofessional of coaches to act that way especially guys like Ty Lue who isn't a real coach anyway. He's someone you bring in to pretend to be the coach while the team is run by the players. In all likelihood, CP3 will be a significantly better coach than Lue.

As to JVG, he's beyond washed, this job is a retirement present, nothing more. One final chance to cash them checks. He shouldn't forget that.

I don't know about that. Here are some of the Chris Paul Experience

Woj - 'Incredibly Demanding" "Unforgiving of mistakes."
    Zack Lowe- "Brutal" "Overbearing" "Challenging"
    Sam Amick "Intense" "High-Maintenance" "Exhausting"
JJ Redick - "Rides guys endlessly." "Not Easy"

These are not the mindset of a successful coach, at least for the long term. At best, I believe he will be like Billy Martin, the old New York Yankee manager, among other teams. Billy would take over a team, be so intense that it improved, and everyone would be happy. As time went on, the Billy experience would be too much, and he would be off to another team.

To add on to this...the fact that players were listening to CP3 so that coaches were scared he was undermining them tells you all you need to know.

I bet when CP3 told them to swap defenses Kawhi was in his mind going "Wait...he got a point, wtf am I chasing Klay around the court?"

I mean that another player would go to Lue and bring up advice CP3 would bring up means the player found some sense in what CP3 was saying.

I don't think it's that simple. I mean, Bill Belichick is one of the best coaches of all time and he was notoriously a taskmaster that would randomly quiz players on strategy and gameplan and then if players got it wrong, would punish them or better yet, not play them at all. This is the guy that chanted 'No Days Off!" after winning a superbowl. Also Nick Saban.

Popovic was that on the basketball side and most of the guys (and gals) from his coaching tree are the same.

While yes, being a player friendly coach can work, I think it all depends on what kind of players your team has.

Belichick and Popovic best players also had that grind mindset so it became the mentality of the team so when the coach demands it the player is the fool for not doing what everyone else is doing.

Phil Jackson might be the opposite of Popovic in that he was a pretty player friendly coach, but he had grindset players underneath him in Jordan and Kobe.

It's obviously not going to work with that Clippers team, it's a retirement home team at this point, it looks like most of the players there want to play ball and collect their checks and so it then makes sense why CP3 ruffled players.

So I don't think it's that simple, I think CP3 could be a great coach, he cares about the details and that does matter the most with coaches.

The fact that the coaches were to allow Kawi to get cooked by Klay with no adjustments says a lot about the coaching staff….

It could also just be Harden running back to Lue causing trouble in an effort to get CP3 run out of town like he did in Houston.

You have such delusional takes it’s actually impressive. JVG being washed is stupid. LA was an incredibly good defensive team last season. Its not his fault he’s working with the corpse of Brook Lopez, hobbled Lenard, was using a useless CP3 and Bradley Beal.

Ah yes, so would ever call a 63 year old who was out of basketball for 17 years, washed?

What a weird hill you've chosen to die on.

Why is it one sided? No 1 rule of holding others accountable is you hold yourself accountable. You cant be blaming everybody else when you are playing the worst.

Because it was believed before the season that it was a farewell tour, and the Clippers as a organization did not get the memo.....

It was known to anyone that CP3 right now is not an NBA player, or marginal NBA player and that he wanted to be home in LA with his family.

The Clippers just jumped on it and then did an arsehole move. They did not have to sign him.

Again it was known to any fan that was concerned with CP3, okay, cannot say for the fair weather fans....
You might not like CP3 as I do, that is fine, but to say the Clippers are right, you are among the minority, most are supporting CP3...sorry.

You act surprised like you heard it the 1st time that Chris has declined, guess you did not watch him the last 2 years.
