All these players that want to have "offensive freedom" are morons. If you examine the teams that win titles, except for Jordan (the greatest basketball player of all time), every team had a legitimate big man. Think about the lakers, celtics, San Antonio even *gasp* the Rockets. You need a dominate big man to win in this league. Just wait and see when this season is over if the lakers or orlando will be deep in the mix of things...... just wait and see....

What would you call Detroit? Don't give me that Ben or Rasheed Wallace are dominant big men.

Shaq and the heat aren't going to win it, they have too many scrub players on that team. And as of right now, Yao and T-mac aren't going to win a title unless they get more help.

What you need to win a title are players that want to work together to win a title. When are players going to realize they can't win it all by themselves?

Believe it or not, the lakers radio broadcasters, Mychal Thompson and Joel Myers, actually pick Yao over Lebron before the game today. The reason? BIG GUY over small guy. I was like: Do u guys actually follow Rockets games? Yao actually didnt play that "big" most of the time. Anyway I was happy to hear that as it's not like we have any chance to swap yao for lebron. :D

Wallace is a 2 time defensive player of the year. You don't always need a dominant big man to win championships, but historically all championship teams have had them except the Bulls and Pistons of the 90's

Are you sure he didn't say "Kobe doesn't realize how lucky he is to play through injury instead of dogging it like me."?

I thought it was pretty obvious. He didn't want to be in Carter's shadow, but being in Shaq's shadow is supposedly something he envied? Mmkay. The big man thing is irrelevant here. He obviously thought he could be the man, found it was too hard, then changed his mind.

Bryant says he was 'tired of being a sidekick', but that's exactly part of the reason McGrady reportedly left. Does it really matter that one was a sidekick to a big man and the other (McGrady) to another swingman?

He signed in Orlando with the thinking that both Grant Hill and Tim Duncan would be there. That's not exactly thinking one can "be the man."

On that note, can you imagine the madness if Hill, Duncan and Mcgrady did in fact land in Orlando. Hill wouldn't have given them anything, but Tim and Tracy would have landed in 3 or 4 Finals by now, and probably a couple of wins also. But to be honest, when those reports surfaced that Orlando was still angling for Duncan after Hill and Mcgrady was signed, I figured it was be too good to be true. Still it was a pretty exciting time to be a Magic fan at that time. Man, they've had some good players run through that franchise.

    Denver wants Mobley????

    Slam Dunks

It says a lot about the other Knicks assistant coaches that Isiah Thomas wouldn't promote any of them when he dumped Dick Helm, but instead imported Brendan Suhr to be Lenny Wilkens' No. 1 aide. It tells you what Thomas thinks of Mark Aguirre, Herb Williams and Michael Malone. Having worked under Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello and Chuck Daly, Suhr should be able to make a difference when it comes to addressing the Knicks' defensive woes. Then again, Thomas has done a masterful job importing poor defensive players. As one Celtic vet noted: "I see three players on that team and all they want to do is shoot." No secret that he was talking about Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford and Tim Thomas.

Please, no more comparisons between Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. The Nuggets' turmoil starts with Anthony. One scout who watched Denver this past week reports: "He's a killer. He doesn't run back on defense. He goes his own way when they try to run plays. He actually breaks up their sets. That's because he only cares about scoring, not getting others involved. And he doesn't look like he can play with Kenyon Martin." Meanwhile, as coach Jeff Bzdelik's seat gets hotter, the front office is trying to import a shooting guard. With Voshon Lenard's season-ending foot injury, Denver lost its top perimeter shooter. GM Kiki Vandeweghe is doing homework on Orlando's Cuttino Mobley.

If Chicago rookie Ben Gordon is getting frustrated with his minutes and coach Scott Skiles, it's understandable. It's amazing that Skiles has given Gordon, the third pick overall last June, sporadic playing time. He sometimes plays another rookie, Chris Duhon, taken with the 38th pick, instead of the ex-UConn star. The Knicks' Crawford called Gordon the other day to give him a pep talk. "I know that Scott can be pretty tough on his players because he's definitely old school, but he will give you freedom to play," said Crawford. "I just told Ben not to worry about anything. Just go out and play. Have fun. Take everything in stride. You'll make mistakes. You're young. But it will get better for you." If it doesn't, GM John Paxson needs to have a talk with his coach.

For anyone who doesn't think Rasheed Wallace can be a dominant big man when he wants to be, check out what Detroit's record is after he arrived in Detroit. There's a reason why Detroit made him the highest paid player on the team. He basically shutdown Jermaine Oneal with an injured foot. The guy has the skills of a KG, but he doesn't always apply himself to the fullest.
