The movie marks Verbinski’s first feature since A Cure for Wellness back in 2016, and judging by this teaser, he’s back with a vengeance. The film stars Sam Rockwell as a mysterious man claiming to be from the future who bursts into a Los Angeles diner and takes its patrons hostage. But he’s not there for money, he’s there to save the world. He believes this unlikely group of strangers is the key to stopping a rogue artificial intelligence from wiping out humanity. The concept seems like it’s perfect for Verbinski as it’s surreal, darkly funny, and loaded with biting social commentary about technology and our overreliance on it. Joining Rockwell are Michael Peña, Juno Temple, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz, Asim Chandhry, and Tom Taylor, making for one hell of a cast.
