I'll take Ime and the culture he's created over the "offensive genius" of MDA and the MIT education of Moreyball... ...but maybe thats just me.... lol
Why does it have to be a choice? OKC is tough AF with a great culture despite having enough talent to coast, plus they pay a huge amount of attention to modern trends. They don't obsess over one side of the court over the other. Balanced team, great culture, offensive and defensive focus, advanced metrics, some Spurs elements, some Moreyball elements, etc. The other thing is culture is not the whole formula for a championship. Not everyone can create a great culture, but not every such coach is good at winning championships. Some coaches are builders and others are winners/finishers I think. Some are both but those are rare.
I like Ime... I think he's a good coach... it wouldn't surprise me if he won us a championship this year or next! I think he does work a good balance between both ends of the court - something sorely lacking during the aforementioned regime... I appreciate that he's not just trying to chuck 3s like so many cause 3 is more than 2... - and again, the previous regime... I love how the pieces are coming together... its a process but its coming along... I dont agree with the man on every decision... but i trust his tinkering more than i ever did that small ball crap.... lol! jus sayin...
I think he's doing a good job too. Would be silly for anyone to dispute that. There's a very good chance we win a title this season. I don't care if it's big ball or small ball I've seen all the gimmicks. I want to see at least a top 10 offense and top 10 defense that is functioning smoothly going into the playoffs. That's a contender to me, I don't care how it's assembled.
