I was surprised they have nearly identical ops.
I think I'd favor Polanco as he's a free agent. Concerned about what the cards would want for Donovan.

From what's been reported it seems what we have to trade will be used for pitching.

In ranking it seems that Donovan and Polanco are about even in terms of protection.
Josh lowe seems to be trending in the wrong direction.

I'm curious to see if altuve will continue to split time between left field and second or go to one full time.

Didn't we want Polanco last year? Or am I thinking of someone else . . .

Yes. The Astros made an offer that Seattle beat. He would have made a big difference last season. He’s not as much of a fit now that Houston has Correa but adding Polanco would allow them to trade Paredes or salary dump Walker.

    SS Pena
    1B Paredes
    LF Alvarez
    3B Correa
    2B Polanco
    DH Altuve
    RF Sanchez/TBD
    C Diaz
    CF Cole

I think I like Donovan's age better in that role, but something is better than nothing. I get the feeling Polanco will be headed to DHish duties in the not too distant future.

I think he’d be a good fit on a 1 or 2 year deal but I expect him to get 3 years and more than Houston can offer. But on a 2 year deal he could probably stay viable enough to share 2B/LF/DH duties with Alvarez and Altuve.

The baseball media used a seemingly awful person in Fiers to destroy the reputation and forever vilify Jose Altuve, a seemingly good person.

I remember that the Fiers stuff about him being a creepo was coming out and the Kobe died so all the attention went to that, and Fiers got to slither away down to Mexico...

Exactly because you are only getting Donovan for two more years, so weigh in the prospect cost + Donovan to what a 2-3 year deal for Polanco would be and I bet Polanco is the better value, given he fills a power need the Astros have, and while Donovan does have a higher on base percentage, it's mostly due to average. They both are roughly the same walk rate, but you are getting a lot more power from Polanco. I'll take 15-20+ more HRs over 20+ more singles.

I love that we got Reddick a ring. He loves this organization.

Whats even more upsetting is that they got ajizz pierzynskeeee to ask questions about our team. Eff that guy and his continuous onslaught of hatred for this organization.

At 5 mil per year give me Donovan over signing Polanco..

If a trade for Donovan looked like this.

    Natthews/Ullola Hicks/Mayer for Donovan.

Altuve is a poor left fielder and an equally poor 2nd baseman. In a tight game he is a bench bat.

I see no stats from 2025 so assuming he was injured. His 2024 stats looks great though. I wonder what type of injury he had last year? Tmj surgery??

Also looks like $250 000 was the amount.

    20. Nico Zeglin, RHP
    Height: 6-4 | Weight: 200 | Bats: R | Throws: R | Age: 25

Zeglin’s probably a longshot, but he does have a 70 changeup and crushed two levels of A-ball last year, with a 0.95 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 66 innings. An undrafted free agent from Long Beach State who was 23 when the Cubs signed him, he started out last year as just an org guy to give the Low-A club some innings, and the Cubs kept him in a bulk role even as he had success and moved up to High A, probably because his fastball is mostly 87-91. He did get up to 94 later in the year and his upper-70s curveball is at least a 45. He could be a long reliever in the big leagues, which would be an amazing outcome given how he signed and started.

Two stories that still shock me to this day that are overlooked are:

Josh Giddy. The NBA complete covered it up all of a sudden.

Mike Fiers. Guy cheats while playing for Astros, leading to a no hitter. He is bitter about not being a top starter on Astros so he narcs on the team over trash cans, but no one cared he cheated himself. The league ultimately pushed him out of baseball because he didn’t keep his mouth shut — and oh yeah, he was “dating” minors while a big leaguer but no one discusses it.

Yeah I remember him being discussed a year or two ago. Top rate change up and a fastball he can spot. Was working on a cutter before he hurt himself.

Miller probably saw him playing catch with his nephew in a Walmart parking lot and took note… why not, we even were looking for talent from cricket fields.

Joblome or whoever that lipreading ******* is...he's the one who threw out the ****ing "Altuve buzzer jersey" bullshit...and he's made millions off of it. He deserves to die in a tire fire.
