I don't get why you're white knighting Ryan Hollins. He's terrible and I'm certainly entitled not to like his commentary.
It’s just their shtick. It’s not very good. They are trying to do comedy, but they aren’t good at it. I think Hollins provides some analysis that is useful. Ackerman provides nothing. Ackerman doesn’t have a good announcers voice and he doesn’t really do PBP. Ackerman is kinda just there to scream when we make a good play.
I was not a fan of Ryan when he started, but I have cooled. They are fine. I think we need to enjoy Calvin while we can because I don't see him continuing many more seasons. Vanessa is great. Kaliegh was great.
lol. THIS. Getting a headache is a little dramatic, no? Try turning down your volume? lol. But yea, wtf. How does this guy talk the next morning? He's destroying his vocal box. On Ackerman and Hollins, it never once occurred to me that they don't like each other. I don't dislike them, nor do I like them. They do their jobs and it's fine. For me, the best combo of all time was Bill Worrell and Calvin Murphy. Those two would make me rotf 2-3x per broadcast. Yes Calvin was extra but Worrell always had the best dead pan responses to counter Calvin. Those two had amazing chemistry. I know Calvin was polarizing but I was in the "love him" camp.
Yes, the best for sure was back in the day with Calvin and Bill. Those two were hilarious when together and had the best chemistry. Ryan and Craig definitely have some awkward moments in my opinion. I think it was the Jazz game and they were talking about the use of the word “Unc” and it just started getting awkward and cringe between the two. Definitely some weird, uncomfortable vibes.
Ryan is decent in my opinion. But Craig has a compulsive disorder to cut him off and narrate plays that aren’t real important and could relax on. if he fixed that they could be great.
As someone who has watched a lot of away team broadcasts, we are very spoiled with our commentary crew. They are phenominal.
Bicker?? I think they are just poking fun at each other, and giving each other crap. It seems to me like they have bonded enough for that type of friendship to be there to allow for that. If they weren't giving each other crap ever than I would be more worried that it was too phony, and they had no relationship at all. Ackerman also probably watches alot of Curb Your Enthusiasm which I think is the funniest show ever, and how me and my close friends argue with each other, and talk about nonsense so to me what Craig does is enjoyable, but I guess I can see how he's not for everyone. Hollins at first took himself a bit too seriously, but has definitely loosened up a bit to play off of Ackerman's style. I for one would be pretty upset if they canned Ackerman, and opted for a straight laced normie play by play guy. Go watch a Dallas Mavericks game and listen to Followill & Derrick Harper and you'll see what I mean about how bland announcers are. I like Ackerman, and Hollins has grown on me with him loosening up his collar a bit. Vanessa also has really grown on me, but I assume she'll be onto bigger and better things soon given how she's doing more and more with the larger NBA in the offseason.
they're average. Ackerman does the basketball stuff well but the humor/ banter is really forced. Hollins is a friendly positive vibe but is far too repetitive in any real analysis.
